To maintain clear access to the site of interest, a surgical retractor system is typically utilized. A surgical reactor system typically inchndes a rail lamp, frame connected tothe ral clamp by joint clamp, and retractor blades that are connected to the frame by ‘ditional joint clamps. The rail clamp is commonly secured to. operating table and provides fixed and study support forthe frame and the retractor blades. Each of the compo- nents in atypical surgical retractor system is conventionally ‘mal of stainless stel. Other materials soch as aluminum ang titanium have also been wsed Limitations and disadvantages of conventional and tradi- tional approaches should become apparent to one of skill in the art, through comparison of such systoms with aspects of the embodiments st forth inthe remainder of the present disclosure BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION Surgical retractor systems and joint clamps far such surgical retractor systems are shown in andlor described in at least one figure of the present disclosure. The frame assembly 11 ‘may secure retractor blades 34, 36 toa surgical table 16 eliminate or reduce movement the reactor Blades 34, 36 relative to and the surgical table 16 and a patient on the surgical table 16, To this end, the frame assembly 11 may include adjustable rail clamps 12, posts 17, cross bars 18, extension arms 19,20, and mult-directional joint clamps 21, 22, 24, 26, 28 (herealter “joint clamp or joint clamps”). A fist adjustable rail clamp 12 may be socured to one side of the surgical table 16. A second adjustable ral clamp (aot shown) may be secured to an opposite side ofthe surgical lable 16 for increased stability. A post 17 may extend vertically from the nil clamp 12 to provide suppor for a 2 ‘ross bar 18 which in tum provides support for a pair of extension arms 19, 20. The cross bar 18 may be secured to the post 17 by a joint clamp 21. The extension ams 19, 20, may'be respectively secured tothe cross bar 18 by a pair of joint clamps 22, arms 19, 20 may be secured directly tothe post 17 by a joint clamp, thus eliminating the emss bar 18 in cersin circum stances Additional joint clamps 26, 28 may be disposed along the extension aris 19, 20, The joint claims 26, 28 may secure retracior blades 34, 36 10 the extension arms 19, 20. The joint clamp 21 is shown at an upper distal end ofthe post 17. Referring to FIGS. 3-11, a fist embodiment of a joint move closer together, the jaws 212, 252 move closer together. The planar lower surface may be configured to closely mate with, the planar upper surface ofthe fist washer 370. In particular, the clamp ing force may move the upper portion 320 and the lower portion 340 toward one another, thus reducing a circumfer- fence or diameter ofthe clamping passage 390 and constrct- ing the area within clamping passage 390, ‘A third washer 382 may be positioned in the gap 350, between the loser surface of the upper portion 320 and the ‘upper surface of the lower portion 340, The washer 352 may have a generally cylindrical-shape with @ planar upper surface and a planar lower surface, Similar to washer 370, the washer 382 may include a cam bolt hole that extends through the planar upper surfice and the planar lower surface. The cam bolt hole may havea diameter greater than ‘adiameter of the cam bolt 610 to permit passage through the ‘washer 32. The washer 352 may prevent the clamping force from reducing the gap 380 beyond the thickness of the ‘washer 352. In this manner, the washer 382 may operate as ‘8 governor so to prevent an application of an excessive ripping force that could potentislly damage the object passing through the elamping passage 390 andlor cirele clamp 300. As shovin in FIGS. 446, the joint clamp 100 may further include a bushing 400 betwoen the scissors clamp 200 and the citele clamp 300. In particular, the bushing 400 may include a frustoconical upper surface 410, a frustoconical lower surface 420, and a cam bolt hole 480. The upper surface 410 may be configured to engage the ress 346 in the lower potion 340 ofthe circle clamp 300.
