THERE IS ANOTHER SKY

Emily Elizabeth Dickinson is an American lyric poet who lived in seclusion

and commanded a singular brilliance of style and integrity of vision.

With Walt Whitman, Dickinson is widely considered to be one of the two

leading 19th-century American poets. She is famous for her motivational

and philosophical poetry. Her verses of simple and short lines with a short

rhyme scheme are unique to her era.

There is another Sky is a sonnet poem that consist of fourteen lines . It has

a tone of encouragement, inspirational, longing, and hope. This poem was

written as a part of a letter addressed to Emily’s younger brother Austin who

experiencing unfortunate time.

In this poem "There is Another Sky" it can be interpreted in different ways

where you can consider that this poem had a depths meaning to understand

and to know the hidden meaning. Every lines of the poem carrying a

meaning that you will find what's fitted of this line that it could consider a

sense. Particularly, if you read the poem it is talked about a another place

and missing of someone that important and desire to comeback them. Every

single lines there's a symbolic that probably you can connect personal

experience.

The poem told us that there's a time that we will desire that

person to comeback and no need to worry because there always a hope

waiting. It could be our family, friends and love ones that we really wanted

to back in our home. It was common for people to leave in a different places
through different interest in life. Furthermore, this poem the author Emily

Dickinson, undoubtedly made for his brother as a letter. She represent a

two worlds which the reality and the imagination she made. Also it can be

represented that even his brother was in different place there always a place

where he can go back. That's only a letter gave a great impact to his

brother. The line, “There is another sky” is the first line of the poem. The

poet starts the poem with this line to put an emphasis on it, she means to

say that there a better place where you can feel comfortable or unrestrained,

and that’s home. The poet is imagines of a place where there is no

restriction and they can live freely and she calls for her brother and wants to

make him feel that their home is that soothing place to live in and they can

live together for some time happily. The poet addressing the poem to his

brother, Austin who in a gloomy and depressed state of mind. He has left

the home where he used to stay with his sister and has moved to Boston

from Amherst to study. In the first part of the poem we see a state of

despondency and heaviness, as poet’s brother has left . Poet encourage her

brother to not get depressed under any worst situation and challenges of life

because there is always another option in life, there is another opportunity

to take, there is another place to go where you feel the peaceful and fair

atmosphere ever. Poet suggests that always be optimistic in our life. In the

second part of the poem we can see the poet is inviting him to her garden,

which is symbolic to a home, where there is brightness and happiness. She

keeps on calling him back and says that there is still a happy place, and

that is their own home. Poet encourage her brother to not get depressed

under any worst situation because there is always another option in your
life, there is another opportunity to take, there is another place to go where

you feel the peaceful and fair atmosphere ever. Poet suggests that always be

optimistic in our life.

Emily Dickinson depicted home into a special and unique. No matter what

changes around home, home will always be home.

In the quote “Life takes you to unexpected places. Love brings you

home” by Melissa McClone says that there’s always a point of our lives that

we need to leave our home maybe because of our dreams, jobs, for our

education, and for any other reasons but there is no greater feeling than

going back home and reuniting with them.
