SAP TIPS

1) Don’t’ use “0001” Company Code as a productive company code because

it’s used by SAP System to generate template company code with country
settings.
2) Don’t copy number ranges during the copy process for creation of new
company code.
3) Copy G/L accounts only if you plan to use same chart of account as the
reference company code.
4) Don’t forget to copy country template to target structure and changing org.
structure details.
5) Run country template installation only in the new installation SAP ERP and
not in an upgrade installation as the country-specific customizing may differ
from one version to another.
6) Consider use of cost centers. FI substitution rules and logistics structure
assignment to derive business areas.
7) Consolidation business area in SAP is represented by 4 character key.
8) if only one company is required. Use preset company ID G00000 to reduce
configuration and table adjustment.
9) If several clients are used, the non-operational group-internal business
partner companies must be maintained in each client to allow account
assignment of group internal trading partner.
10) Companies must be cataloged in a list of company ID’s which is consistent
across the group. The parent company usually provides this list of company ID’s
11) Create a company for each company code (1:1) for flexibility. Designate
legally dependent braches as companies and join them together as a legal unit
by consolidation.
12) Consider profit center master data and business add-ins for populating
segments.
13) Segment Dimensions can be used to represent segment levels. To represent
segments in two dimensions, use the Segment dimension for the primary
 segmentation. Create secondary segmentation by using a customer filed such
as region.
14) Functional are is used in the cost of sales dimension in new GL. Cost-of-
sales based reports can be generated as required by US GAAP.
15) Consider Cost Centers & FI substitution Rules for populating functional
areas.
16) Be careful while deciding FM area currency as this cannot be changed after
postings.
