UNIT SELECTION
The information in the capacity tables is based upon the system using ordinary water and being
located at or near sea level. System utilizing glycol solutions and/or at high elevations degrade
capacities and require correction to use of the tables. Correction factors can be found on the next
page.

To select a new place of equipment the following is required.

Example Correction Factors

Required Information
TH SH PD
Total cooling load 4000 W
Sensible load 3070 W
Entering air temperatures (DB / RH) 27qC / 50%
Entering water temperature 7qC
Type and % of glycol used 10% Propylene 1.058 1.030 1.088
Elevation 600 m 1.020 1.075 N/A

By applying the correction factors as multipliers to the Cooling/Heating load, the loads can be
adjusted to reveal the equivalent 100% water/sea level capacity. These adjusted capacities are
used with the tables to determine unit size, entering water temperature (if not fixed) and the
required flow rate.

With the previous example information given, the calculation would look as follows:

4000 Watts X 1.058 X 1.020 = 4317 Watts

Total cooling load

Glycol correction factor Corrected TH for table use
Elevation correction factor

3070 Watts X 1.030 X 1.075 = 3399 Watts

Total cooling load

Glycol correction factor Corrected SH for table use
Elevation correction factor

On the sample table of Performance Data (cooling capacity) with 27qC DB / 50% R.H., locate the
capacities within the 7qC entering water that meet or exceed the corrected capacities. By
following the row to the left, we find a flow rate of 0.70 m3/min (based on high fan speed). This is
the required flow rate.
22
HYDRONIC DUCTED FAN COIL
With the flow rate now specified at 0.70 m3/min, we can find the pressure drop through the coil to
assist in pump sizing. The pressure drop can be found on the same table. The model PDW-18
with 0.70 m3/min shows us a pressure drop of 22.9 KPa. This is adjusted for the propylene glycol
solution by using the correction factor as a multiplier. The formula would look as follows:

22.9 KPa x 1.088 = 24.92 KPa (actual PD with 10% propylene)

UNIT PERFORMANCE
By applying the correction factors as divisors to the capacities in the tables, the performance of
existing equipment can be determined.
Entering air and water conditions along with elevation and percentage/type of glycol solution is
still required. The basic formula for total and sensible capacity usage appears below.

4620 Watts(from tables)/(1.058x1.020)(correction factors) = 4281 Watts(actual capacity of unit)

ADDITIONAL NOTES
The tables are arranged in some of the more common DB / RH combinations found in
specifications. Interpolation between columns is allowed.

The sensible capacities and leaving dry bulb temperatures are based upon the entering dry bulb.
Total capacities and leaving wet bulb temperatures are based upon entering wet bulb. It is
acceptable to mix entering DB / RH columns as long as entering values are constant.

4) PIPE CONNECTIONS
Make sure the diameter of the water pipes is adequate for the actual length of the piping and in any case not less than the
diameter of the connection on the unit. When connecting the water pipes to the coil, take care not to damage the coil manifold.
During this operation, hold the coil connections firm with a spanner to avoid damaging them.
The fittings are located on the back of the unit looking at the air outlets.

CONNECTING THE WATER PIPING

This operation must be carried out with particular care. The unit is fitted with a gravity drainage condensate drain pan with an
open connection on the back of the unit. The pipe should have an internal diameter of at least 16 mm.
The drain connection has an external diameter of 18 mm.
Proceed according to the following instructions (see figure).
1. Connect the condensate drain hose to the pan outlet with a hose clip.
2. Make sure the drain pipe has a slope of at least 2 cm/m without obstructions or bottlenecks.
3. Fit a siphon. By eliminating the pressure drop caused by the fan, this prevents air being sucked up by the drain hose.
4. Connect the condensate drain pipe to a rainwater drainage system. Do not connect to the sewage system as odours may be
sucked up if the water in the siphon evaporates.
5. After connecting, check correct drainage of the condensate by pouring water into the pan.

IMPORTANT
Gravity drainage may be converted into forced drainage by fitting the condensate drain pump available as an accessory.

HYDRONIC DUCTED FAN COIL
AIR PURIFIER (OPTIONAL)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This air purifier uses a negative ion generator that disperses a steam of negative ions into the air
throughout the room. The negative ions generated will charge airborne particles so they become
attracted to and settle on room surfaces, effectively removing harmful particles from the air you
breathe. Ion generator is very quiet; it does not release chemicals into the air, and is energy
efficient.

CHARACTERISTICS
Ions concentration: > 1 x 106 n/cm3
Power consumption: 1W
Power: 220VAC / 50Hz
Operation Temperature: <80oC

PRECAUTIONS
1. This ion generator is maintenance free.
2. It should be installed in a place at least 20mm away from any metal parts.
3. When ion generator is in use, plenum filter need to be cleaned more frequently.

TWO-WAY INTAKE PLENUM WITH DAMPER (OPTIONAL)
The two-way intake plenum with damper enables the room air intake duct and the external air intake duct to be
connected when required. The cross section of the external air intake duct is accounted for 25% of the total cross
section.

DISCHARGE (AND INTAKE) PLENUM (OPTIONAL)

The discharge and intake plenum is supplied when the incoming or outgoing airflow must be directed to or from the
bottom of the unit. It has a flange for connection to the basic unit or other accessories and blanked panels for
optimum and flexible use.

DISCHARGE PLENUM FOR ROUND DUCTING (OPTIONAL)

The discharge plenum for round ducting enables the air to be distributed through flexible ducts. Distribution takes
place through three 130mm diameter ducts in sizes PDW(H)-12/15/18, three 190 mm diameter ducts in sizes
PDW(H)-24/30, four 190 mm diameter ducts in sizes PDW(H)-40/44, four 200 mm diameter ducts in sizes
PDW(H)-50/66 The number of ducts is calculated so as to obtain an air speed of 5.0 m/s in the ducts with rated
airflow and the ducts fully open.
