Summary

Mac's eyes fluttered open, she sighed heavily as she rolled around, Mac hit her broken alarm
clock that was flashing red numbers that read "07:00" off and tried to go back to sleep, which
was unsuccessful as Dylan burst into her room.

"Wake up, fuckface! you have your paper shit to do, and I'm not giving you lunch money this
time, so you either get your ass up or starve." Dylan said after he threw an empty coke can at
the girl's head, Mac groaned, she sat up and observed her room for a little, still the same
shitty trash hole as before, she didn't know what she was expecting, she threw the covers off
of herself, Mac's socks made the floor quite slippery so she had to be careful while walking to
the kitchen, once she got there she had a quick breakfast which consisted of toast and orange
juice, she had to get ready for her paper route soon, her stupid paper route, Mac just wanted
to sleep, she ran upstairs and threw on her Ramones band tee, with her green jacket over the
top, she stepped into her jeans then sat on her bed for a bit, listening to I Wanna Be Sedated
by Ramones.

Kj woke up at around six, she didn't want to but her Mom insisted, "you have to wake up
early or you'll have no time to chat with your father and I!" Nora would say, however, Kj
didn't want to speak with her parents, she'd much rather just go and see her friends at the
paper route, Kj had her curly hair down, she was wearing her hockey sleep shirt with a pair of
black shorts underneath, she sat on the living room couch with her bagel and coffee, Kj
looked up at the Halloween decorations.

"Had fun last night then?" Kj joked, staring at the fake spider in the corner of the room, she
took a sip of her coffee, waiting for her mom's response.

"Ah, we just thought we would decorate this year, I hope you like it, sweetie." Nora smiled
softly in which Kj returned reluctantly, she hated it when her mom acted like this, so sweet
and caring then the next minute she's throwing her daughter in dresses and makeup, Kj hates
dresses and makeup.

"It's lovely, Mom. But I have to go get ready for my paper route now." Kj said as she went
through to the kitchen to put her dishes away, while she was washing them she heard her
Mom mutter something cruel about her paper route to Kj's Father, "I don't understand that
stupid paper route thing Karina has going on! and the girls there are...not good role models
for her, its terrible." Kj heard her Father agree, she hated them more than anything now, she
left her dirty dishes in the sink and stormed upstairs to get changed.

Erin rolled her papers up neatly, making sure there were ne creases, once she was satisfied
she swung her paper bag on and put her papers inside it, Erin got a quick snack, her Mother
came in and asked her if she would be okay.

"I'll be fine, Mama, please don't worry about me, its the same girls. Nothing has changed, I
promise." Erin told her Mother, she nodded and went to sit on the sofa to watch some
television, Erin joined her soon after.

"Why Don't you call one of your friends to come round? you can do your routes together then
go to school, how about Tiffany? you both go to the same school." Her Mother suggested,
Erin couldn't lie, It was a good idea, she agreed and walked over to the phone then dialled
Tiffany's number.

Tiffany was sat in her room, all ready for the day ahead, she was listening to her favourite
song, Ed Is Dead by the pixies when she heard her Dad shout for her, "Tiff! Someone is on
the phone for you." Tiffany turned off her music and ran to the phone, she picked it up and
was met with Erin's sweet voice.

"Tiff! do you want to come to my house, like, right now? we can do our routes together then
walk up to school." Erin spoke with such kindness.

"Sure, let me get my bike, see you soon!" Tiffany hung up before Erin could say any more.

When the girls got to class, they sat at their desks. Kj softly put her bag down, not wanting to
make a loud sound since her water bottle was in there. she took out her notebook and pen and
was ready to learn, Miss Woodhart entered the classroom and told everyone that they would
be learning about time travel - Kj sighed because she didn't believe in time travel at all, she
thought it was another excuse to mush fantasy and reality together. it was silly to her,
however, when Miss Woodhart even mentioned the letter "T" Sofia's eyes lit up, she loved
anything time or space centred. I guess that's the one of the few differences between Kj and
her.

Finally the class ended and Kj let out a sigh of relief, Kj was just grabbing her things when
Sofia came and wrapped an arm around her.
"Ready for the rest of the day?" Sofia asked in a sarcastic tone, like always.
"Ready as ever." Kj replied back in the same higher pitched, sarcastic tone.
"Oh, c'mon. You'll be fine, Kaje. Don't sweat it!"
Sofia smiled as the two walked out of first period, Kj had a speech about the importance of
school uniform she had to perform in front of the whole school and she only had little time to
rehearse it since it was fourth period. Soon enough they got to their next class, then their
third, then their fourth. the speech Kj had been dreading all morning was about to happen in
three, two, one — "CAN KARINA JO BRANDMAN PLEASE REPORT TO THE FRONT
OFFICE, I REPEAT, CAN KARINA JO BRANDMAN REPORT TO THE OFFICE,
THANK YOU."
The alarm made Kj jump but at least she had gotten out of her terrifying school uniform
speech, Kj trotted down to the front office and was greeted by her most favourite person ever
- Lydia, the front desk lady. She was the most sweetest person at Kj's school, Lydia liked to
sneak Kj sweets since she was one of the two people Kj is actually friends with.
"Kj!" Lydia called out cheerfully, "My favourite student ever, want a treat?" Lydia held out a
chocolate and Kj took it eagerly, Lydia was always happy to see a familiar face.
"Hi, Lydia! thanks for the chocolate but do you know why i was called down to the office?"
Kj questioned.
"Ohhh, yes. These three girls told me to tell you that you need to, quote on quote, come
quick." Lydia pointed to the girls which just so happened to be Mac, Erin and Tiffany.
"Oh, thank you Lydia." Kj shot her friends a glare as to say "What the fuck are you doing
here?!", Lydia nodded, said goodbye and let Kj through the door to her friends.
"What the hell are you doing here? i'm at school! trying to learn." Kj stood angrily, crossing
her arms.
"Okay, we understand but you really need to hear about this." Erin walked closer to her and
held Kjs arm softly.
"Yeah, and who needs school anyway?!" Mac joked, Tiffany and Erin glared at her and Kj let
out a chuckle which made Mac smile.
