Starting/Training Instructions for App & Receiver Users

(ONLINE TRAINING)

Training Instructions (when phone compatibility confirmed and have Dexcom 6 starter
kit: x1 sensor and x1 transmitter ready):

 Click on ‘Learn’ tab on across top of page. This opens side window

 Click on Dexcom G6 option, then click on ‘learn the basics’ option.

 View video ‘An Introduction to Continuous Glucose Monitoring’

 Following completion, click on ‘Ready to Get Started’ tab across top of page

 You are then required to view the 3 training videos on this web page and follow the
instructions within the videos
 ‘Overview of the Dexcom G6 system’
 ‘Setting up Dexcom G6 on your smartphone’ (NB also shows how to link sensor and
transmitter to app) or ‘Setting up Dexcom G6 with a receiver’
 ‘Insert you sensor and attach the transmitter’
 Upon successful completion of above, click the option at bottom of page ‘I have set up
successfully’
NB There is also an option at the bottom of this page if you need further help from Dexcom
team with any of above set ups if you have experienced problems)

 Click on tab along top ‘Your first 10 days with Dexcom’.

 PLEASE ARRANGE DATA SHARING WITH KING’S COLLEGE HOSPITAL DIABETES CLINIC:

information and click on ‘view clinic account set up guide’
 You will need to download the Dexcom Clarity App for this and log in with same credentials as used
for Dexcom G6 App (NB, this App can be deleted once data sharing set up)
 This will take you to information sheet about how to link your account with King’s College Hospital.
 You will need to contact us on www.kch-diabetes-technician@nhs.net to request we send you an
email invite / code from our Clarity account to share your data with us (this will provide your
unique sharing code that you will require). Please advise your full name and DOB / hospital
number in email request.
 To share data from CLARITY app Tap Profile – Tap authorise sharing – Tap accept invitation – Enter
the sharing code provided by clinic – Select you DOB – Tap continue – Tap I consent to share my data
with my clinic – Tap yes share my data

ACTVATE LETTER FOR GP PRESCRIBING OF
SENSORS!!
ON COMPLETTION OF TRAINING ABOVE, PLEASE GENERATE SELF
CERTFICATE:

 When on ‘Understanding your Diabetes Trends’ tab as above, scroll down to bottom
right
Dexcom G6 - understanding your diabetes trends with Dexcom Clarity | Dexcom

 Click icon under ‘You’ve completed your training journey’ to complete self certification
 Enter details requested and submit
 Tick required boxes and submit
 You will receive an email with your certification from ‘Dexcom Learning’
 Please forward this email to kch-tr.diabetes-technician@nhs.net
 A letter to your GP will then be generated requesting the Dexcom One sensors and
Transmitters are added to your repeat prescriptions (you should also receive a copy of
this letter)
GUIDANCE ON ALARMS SETTINGS

We would recommend the following settings on either your Dexcom


G6 App or Receiver:

ALERT SETTINGS RECOMMENDATION


Predictive alert 30 minutes
Low 3.5-4.0mmol/L
Low Repeat 20 mins
High Start high ie 18-20mmol/L
and move down to 14-
16mmol/L or 3.0mmol/L
above average sensor
glucose
High Repeat 2 hours
Urgent Low Repeat 10-15 mins
