LITERATURE REVIEW

The United States is among the nations extensively employing Artificial Intelligence across numerous technological and business
domains. Following President Trump's election, substantial investments have been directed towards AI development, particularly
in critical sectors such as the military. Srivastava (2020) argues that the U.S government prioritizes AI investment due to its pivotal
role in bolstering both the economy and national security, safeguarding American lives and interests. Additionally, federal initiatives
like the Federal Investment in Artificial Intelligence foster collaboration among industries, academic institutions, and non-federal
agencies to foster innovation in various sectors through AI (Srivastava, 2020). The U.S government anticipates that AI will
significantly contribute to effective governance and global leadership, particularly in terms of military supremacy and technological
advancement. Through AI, partnerships with other global powers will be fortified, enhancing technological prowess and military
capabilities. Artificial Intelligence underpins numerous computer science and technology concepts, including machine learning,
deep learning, robotics, computer vision, the internet, recommender systems, and natural language processing (Ashley, 2017;
Jackson, 2019). These concepts find extensive applications in scientific and technological domains, predominantly through
computer-program-driven mechanisms. Notably, AI systems operate efficiently with minimal human intervention. Machine
learning, a derivative of AI, relies on data and patterns to make decisions (Alpaydin, 2020). Similarly, robotics, another AI offshoot,
involves the design and construction of intelligent machines capable of executing human tasks (Patil, 2016; Dirican, 2015).
Engineers are presently leveraging robotics and AI to develop autonomous vehicles that respond to human commands, mitigating
the risk of accidents (Makridakis, 2017). AI also assumes a crucial role in cybersecurity, addressing threats posed by malicious
actors in cyberspace. With rampant cyberattacks like hacking and data breaches, AI fortifies cloud data storage systems, preventing

readiness to adapt and thrive in this technologically-driven future becomes imperative. Artificial Intelligence encompasses a
spectrum of tools and technologies widely deployed in the technological landscape, offering immense potential for innovation and
advancement.

MACHINE LEARNING

Machine learning, an AI application, facilitates system automation (Alpaydin, 2020; Marsland, 2015), centering on the utilization
of computer programs to access and analyze data. It empowers computers to autonomously acquire knowledge without human
intervention (Acemoglu & Restrepo, 2018), employing algorithms to learn from examples and experiences. Machine learning
algorithms fall into two categories: supervised and unsupervised (Marsland, 2015). Supervised algorithms leverage previously
learned fundamentals to predict outcomes based on new data through training on datasets, generating inferred functions (Marsland,
2015). Following training, the system compares output against intended results to refine the model in case of discrepancies.
Conversely, unsupervised algorithms operate on unclassified data, uncovering hidden structures within unlabeled datasets
(Marsland, 2015). They infer relationships among datasets to reveal underlying patterns. Semi-supervised algorithms, positioned
between supervised and unsupervised learning, utilize both labeled and unlabeled data for training, enhancing learning accuracy
and suitability for tagged datasets (Marsland, 2015). Reinforcement learning, another machine learning approach, relies on
environmental interaction to adapt behaviors and improve machine and software performance (Acemoglu & Restrepo, 2018).
Machine learning empowers computers to analyze vast datasets swiftly and accurately, identifying potential risks within data
systems (Marsland, 2015). When combined with AI, machine learning enables computers to efficiently process large data volumes,
offering an optimal solution for organizations and users alike.

DEEP LEARNING

Deep learning, a component of Artificial Intelligence, mimics the cognitive processes of the human brain, facilitating the analysis
of data and the creation of patterns crucial for strategic decision-making. Also referred to as deep neural networks, deep learning
systems excel in learning from unsupervised and unstructured data (Hargrave, 2019), enabling the handling of vast amounts of data
that would otherwise be challenging for humans to process. Leveraging hierarchical layers of artificial neural networks, deep
learning facilitates machine learning processes (Hargrave, 2019). In essence, deep learning AI extracts insights from unstructured
and unlabeled data, rendering it indispensable for organizations in combating fraud and preventing money laundering.

NATURAL LANGUAGE GENERATION (NLG)

Natural Language Generation (NLG) is an Artificial Intelligence capability designed to produce written or spoken narratives based
on datasets (Horacek, 2015). NLG interfaces with other AI functionalities such as natural language processing (NLP), computational
linguistics, and natural language understanding (NLU), facilitating seamless communication between machines and humans
(Horacek, 2015). NLG has the capacity to extract insights from numerical data, identify patterns, and present information in a
comprehensible format for human consumption. The rapid processing speed of NLG software enables the generation of news articles
and other narratives on the internet.

SPEECH RECOGNISATION

Speech recognition represents the prevailing technological trend, widely adopted by numerous industries to streamline their daily
operations. This technology accurately identifies speech and converts it into readable text or information (Jesus, 2019). Major
corporations like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and Facebook integrate speech recognition features into platforms such as Siri,
Google Home, and Amazon Echo to enhance service delivery for online users (Jesus, 2019). The efficiency and user-friendly nature
of speech recognition technology motivate technology companies to incorporate it into their services and products. According to
Jesus (2019), approximately 66.6 million Americans had embraced speech recognition technology by 2018, particularly favoring
virtual assistants equipped with robust speech recognition capabilities. However, significant challenges such as accents and
background noise necessitate continuous improvement in speech recognition technology.

Voice recognition technology experiences exponential growth, with projections estimating its market value to reach 18 billion
dollars by 2023 (Jesus, 2019). It finds widespread applications in smartphones, refrigerators, automobiles, and various essential
devices. Presently, technology companies primarily focus on two types of speech recognition technologies: Smart Speaker and
Smart Home applications, and Mobile Device Applications (Jesus, 2019). Examples include Amazon's Echo and Alexa, which
leverage voice-powered virtual assistants and Amazon Web Services for business operations. Google Home and Assistant offer
voice-activated virtual assistant services, including facilitating payments through Google Pay (Jesus, 2019). Microsoft's Cortana,
released in 2017, aids users in managing reminders, notes, and calendars within computers (Jesus, 2019). Siri, developed by Apple,
serves as a virtual assistant for various online activities, such as playing music and transferring funds (Jesus, 2019). Facebook is
also actively developing its speech recognition software to streamline online activities for users.

BIOMETRICS

In today's complex digital landscape, ensuring security for data systems is paramount for many organizations. The advent of
Biometric identification has represented a significant breakthrough in enhancing the safety of data systems. Biometric technology
utilizes physical traits such as facial features, iris patterns, fingerprint impressions, and other morphological characteristics,
intelligible to AI systems (Akhtar et al., 2017; Efron, 2019). These traits are transformed by AI into specific codes that facilitate

(Akhtar et al., 2017). The significance of Biometric identification lies in its ability to provide robust security for data systems and
digital devices.

APPLICATIONS & TYPES OF AI

The inception of Artificial Intelligence traces back to 1956, initiated by American computer scientist John McCarthy (Jackson,
2019). Presently, computers facilitate automated processes across diverse sectors in business and technology, perpetually reshaping
the global landscape six decades since its inception. Artificial Intelligence enables machines and computer systems to replicate
intelligent human functions, encompassing processes such as self-correction, reasoning, and learning (Jackson, 2019). Its capacity
to mimic human intelligence renders it adaptable for a multitude of applications.

TYPES OF AI

According to computer scientists and software engineers, there are four types of AI. The first type of AI is reactive machines
(Jackson, 2019). An example of a responsive device is Deep Blue, which is an IBM chess program. The Deep Blue Machine works
by identifying and making predictions of the pieces on the chessboard. It is capable of analyzing its moves and the opponent's moves
(Maridakis, 2017). The machine is not useful since it lacks memory that makes it unable to recall past experiences. The second type
of AI is limited memory machines. Finite memory machines can recall past experiences and use them to make future decisions
(Jackson, 2019). Vehicle engineers today use the concept of limited memory to make automatic vehicles that make them respond to
specific commands. Thirdly, there are Artificial Intelligence systems that use the idea of self-awareness to perform different
activities (Jackson, 2019). Machines using the idea of self-awareness can understand the events within their current environment.
Lastly, some Artificial Intelligence systems apply the concept of "Theory of Mind" (Jackson, 2019). Such systems can understand
how the beliefs and intentions can affect the decisions they make. Artificial Intelligence aims at providing machines with human
Intelligence, which enables them to perform many operations as the modern man does.
