INTRODUCTION

A. SCOPE OF APPLICATION

Aircraft Damage Logbook was assigned for control of damages on out surface of structure, fairings, blades of the first step low
pressure compressor engines and engines exit vanes.

B. DEFINITIONS

The term “damage” means any type of structure deformation on its cross section.
Structure deformation can be produced as a result of the next effect:
- mechanical action, for example, scratches, gouges, marks, cracks, dents, nicks, distortions, creases, abrasions, debondings,
delaminations, frettings;
- chemical or electrochemical action, for example, corrosion, debonding, delamination;
- thermal or cyclic actions, for example, distortion, abrasion, debonding, delamination;
- inborn metallurgical characteristic, corrosion.
Allowable damage is a damage, which is definite as small and has no action on structure integrity and do not degrade its functional
quality.
The term “allowable” does not mean that there is no need in the repairing. For example, in case of scratches or gouges it is
necessary to remove sharp edges and smooth the damage. Besides, any damage of coating must be restored.
Allowable damages are subdivided into the next categories:
- Category A - permanent allowable damage, when the damage is in the definite limits and does not require performing the repair or
additional inspections in limit of the fixed limit operational life time;
- Category B - permanent allowable damage with operating limits, when the damage is in the definite limits and does not require to
perform the permanent repair, however, supplemental additional inspections are required till coming of expiration of the fixed limit
operational life time of aircraft;
- Category C - temporary allowable damage, when the damage is in the definite limits and requires performing the permanent repair,
within the fixed limit operational life of the aircraft in Flight Hours, Flight Cycles or Calendar Time.

C. GENERAL STATEMENT

Every allowable damage of any category and also the existing temporary or permanent repair (performed after expiration the
temporary date) must be impartially reflected, in appropriate way draw up and enumerated in album ADL with pointing of damage
category, its dimension, location zone with listing of necessary reference to the technical and maintenance documentation.
To definite the category of damage and its complete description is necessary:
- To perform cleaning of the damage zone, including an adjacent zone;
- In case of corrosion damage it is necessary to perform the complete remove corrosion products with the next NDT inspection;
- To perform DVI (Detail Visual Inspection) of the damage zone, including an adjacent zone;
- To make of damage such as: depth, length, width, a distance till edge, a distance till fasteners, a distance till the nearest damage or
repair (if there is) etc. The obtained metering must completely define the damage and its location. Especially for engine LPC blades in
addition to above is necessary to point the zone of a blade in which a damage was found.

- Any damage on the Primary Structure elements must be examined by NDT inspection, before it will be classified as an allowable.
- After performing the previous steps and having the exhaustive information about damage and also follow the technical information
of producer (SRM, CMM etc) and the section 2.4. of dated instruction we can determine a category of damage.

D. RECORDING RULES

After finding damage and determine its category and also after performing all the corrective actions (repairs, inspections etc.) is
performed a damage working up in ADL:

- in illustration of the appropriate zone of aircraft is marked the damage, the approximately zone is pointed by point, from this point is
drew extension line with dash and above the dash is marked the damage number;

- Aircraft Damage Logbook table form is filled out as per fig. 1 below.
