• The goal of the utopian writings, is to criticize the political regime, but not directly. Like that
thewriters can’t be arrested. They can criticize the political regime with no risks.

• Henry VIII had a weird personality. In the text we learn, he was a selfish person, we understand
whom everyone was afraid of. So, with that we understand he didn’t like being contradicted, and
he would easily kill his opponents. He was respected because people were afraid of him.

6) In your own words, explain the impact Henry VIII had on the religious
life of England
• Henry VIII completely changed the religion in the country. He passed from Catholicism, to his
own religion, a religion he created alone: Church of England / Anglican Religion. The major
difference is that the King is at the Head of the religion (it used to be the Pope with Catholicism)

• The goal of utopian writings is to criticize a country or a government in an indirect way. The writers
use this way because they're under a political regime where there's no freedom to express how
you feel about the government of country.

• At the end of king Henry VIII’s reign, everyone was deeply afraid of him, mainly due to his
ruthless behavior towards people who did not agree with him. In his thirty-eight year of reign,
over 70,000people were executed.
Henry’s personality was very cruel and violent, if anyone said anything contrary to what he
thought, he would have had them executed.
6) In your own words, explain the impact Henry VIII had on the religious
life of England
• Henry VIII split off the Roman church from the English church so he could divorce from his wife. He
became the spiritual Head of the English church, replacing the Pope's role. The king also claimed
property upon the land and riches of the church and sold most of it to noblemen. All this started a
centuries long religious conflict in Britain
