Punctuation marks are symbols
that are used to aid the clarity and
comprehension of written
language.
Use a period at the end of a declarative
sentence and in abbreviations.
PERIOD

quotations .
QUOTATION MARKS

Use a comma to separate items in a


series to set off an appositive, or before
COMMA the conjunction in a compound sentence.
Pause between parts in a sentence.

HYPHEN words, and to divide words into syllables.

Use an exclamation point to show strong


EXCLAMATION POINT emotion or to give a command.

It is a punctuation mark ( ’ ) used to

 Punctuation marks are symbols that help
interpret and define expressions in a text;
they facilitate reading and help to
understand the direction of words.

 The purpose of the punctuation marks is


that the ideas expressed contain structure
and an order that distinguishes the main
ideas from the secondary ones without
losing their relationship.
A written message from
one person to another,
usually put in an envelope
and sent by post.
