China Pakistan Economic Corridor and Its impact on Gilgit

Baltistan

Abstract
Even though the significance of the China–Pakistan economic corridor (CPEC) is
frequently discussed on various international forums. Recent history of
international relations suggests that economic interdependence largely contributes
to the mitigation of the major political conflicts in the world (Siegfried O.Wolf,
2016, p.1).
Despite of the fact that the significance of China- Pakistan Economic Corridor
(CPEC) is frequently under concentration on various international forums but it’s
Economic, socio-cultural and environmental and its impact on the geographical
constrained area has being neglected completely and not yet been studies
precisely.
Gilgit Baltistan is one of the least disputed and least known part of South Asia,
Conversely, it is in spotlight from last several years and increased international
interest for this area. Unfortunately, it’s not due to positive intentions like
economic development, social prosperity, or liberated or imperial political
participation of the domestic population as a part of stabilized process of
democratic consolidation, instead the area is getting high attention due to rise in
human rights violations, economic and land resources exploitations with as well as
environmental degradation.
