1 BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

It has been received a RFI with number 000038 from on site.

A calculation review is requested as the staircase seems to sway.


There are no attached pictures of the structure or measurements of the displacement and its location.

If possible, it is recommended to provide some pictures and measurements of the displacement to have a
clear sight of the issue.

It has been analysed the deflection of the vertical node of the stair from +24.426 to +27.000

The relative difference of displacement is 4 mm (L/250) . The joints are considered rigid at the support
location.

The relative difference of displacement is 7.4 mm (L/135) . The joints are considered pinned at the support
location.

If the problem is located in the selected point, a solution could be to stiff the joint by a welded on site web
plate connecting both UPN240 sections.

Before doing anything please confirm that the issue is related to the previous mentioned nodes.
