Starbucks Wireless Charging

Wireless Charging at Starbucks

Starbucks is committed to bringing new experiences to customers to make their lives just a little bit easier. In 2012,
Starbucks and Powermat began piloting wireless charging, which allows Starbucks customers to charge their
mobile devices in-store without the use of a charger or wire.

How Does it Work?

Select Starbucks stores are equipped with ‘Powermat Spots’ - designated
areas on tables and counters where customers can place their compatible
device and charge wirelessly. Wireless power uses magnetic fields instead
of electrical currents to charge a phone’s battery.

Who Can Use It?

Any customer with a smartphone (supports iPhone, Android and
Windows devices):

 Customers with a PMA enabled device* or phone case can simply place their device on a Powermat Spot at
Starbucks to begin charging their phone
 Wireless charging adaptors are available in-stores, free of charge
for customers who are using a device not currently supporting
wireless charging

Availability
Powermat wireless charging spots are available at select Starbucks
locations in:
 San Francisco Bay Area
 Los Angeles
 Boston
 New York

Powermat and Starbucks will expand wireless charging spots to new markets in 2016. For a detailed list of stores
where wireless charging is available, please visit powermat.com/locations.
