items to add up to determine the cost of living. The cost of living is the amount of money e person needs
to live. This includes housing, food, local transportation, clothing, and entertainment. Every year,
organizations study the cost of living in cities around the world. They decide which cities are the most
expensive to live in.
According to one recent study, the top ten most expensive cities to live in are in Asia and Europe. In
Asia, they include Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, and Hong Kong. The most expensive cities in Europe include
Moscow, London, Oslo, Geneva and Zurich. Geneva and Zurich are in Switzerland.
Every part of the world has expensive cities, San Juan, Puerto Rico is the most expensive city in Central
America and Caribbean. In the Middle East, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and Riyadh and Jeddah
in Saudi Arabia are among the most expensive. In North America, the two most expensive cities are
New York and Los Angeles. In South America, Lima, Peru and Sao Paulo, Brazil are at the top. Doula
in Camaroon and Abidjian, Ivory Coast are two of the most expensive cities in Africa, and they are
among the 30 most expensive cities in the world.
Expensive cities are not always wonderful cities. Some are crowded, dirty, unsafe, and have a high
population density. Some are megacities. On the other hand, some expensive cities are clean, safe, and
