Both boys and girls can use
this backpack. You can easily
fit there small toys and other
things of your child. Width:
19 cm (7,5 inch). Length from
head to tail: 38cm (15 inch).
Bag Inside: w20 x h23 (w 7,8
x h 9 inch). Depending on
used wool the bag can be
bigger or smaller.

Some tips:
1. Every Part will be worked in
spiral rounds. Each round will be
finished with slst.
2. Use a stitch marker. A little
thread (just use a different colour
from the main one) can help as
well to count the rounds. Place it
over the working thread and it will
be easy to pull it out.

Stuff, leave a hole at the

head open, so that you could
place the safety eyes later.
Sew the ears between rows
18 and 19. Leave 12 ST space between the ears.

Now we work with a sewing needle and a thread.

For the eyes: between rows 9 and 10 from the start (1st row of the nose) find places for the eyes -
marks A, B, C, D (leave approx. 12 ST between the eyes). Please, follow the pictures.
Go down 16 rows from the place you started crocheting the head (Nose, 1st row) and insert the
needle there, pull out at point A of the eyes. Go 2 ST to the right and insert the needle (point B) and
move to point A – tighten strongly and make a knot.

Do the same with the 2nd eye – follow the pictures, tighten and make a knot.

8
Assembly
Again Go down 16 rows from the place you started crocheting the head (Nose, 1st row) and insert
the needle there and pull out in the middle of row 1. Tighten and make a good knot – hide the
knot.

Embroider the nose – insert the needle into the middle of the first row, go 4 rows up – pull out and
go back down – repeat a couple of times. (When you go down insert the needle at the same point
all the time, when you go up – move a total of 5 ST to the right.

Back to the eye – find point A again.

Insert the needle in point A – go 1 row up and pull out at the other side (point C). Again 1 row up
and back to the other side. Tighten and make a good knot. Hide the loose ends.

9
Assembly
How to place the safety eyes: first you cut an eye form out of felt, in the middle of the felt make a
hole for the eye. Pull the safety eyes carefully through the hole and fasten them. Now to make the
look nicer you can glue some eyelashes onto the eyes. I use UHU Alleskleber glue.
Make sure that you glued the eyelashes well. If you need to wash your backpack you may need to glue
them on again. You can also embroider the eyebrows 2 rows higher.

When you have placed the eyes, you can now finish the head.
31. (2 SC, 1 dec)x6 (18)
32. (1 SC, 1 dec)x6 (12)
