1. As discussed in class, what method of counseling were the four problem areas listed for relationships?
-> interpersonal counseling

2. What are those four problem areas that were discussed?


-> Grief; role dispute; role transition; interpersonal deficit.

3. What is an example of "Role Transition" as discussed in class?


Professor Brenda gave us her personal experience when in her marriage she was responsible for managing the
budget in the householder, although she and her husband both worked. Overtime it was overwhelming for her,
considering that his income was inconsistent due his inputs was based on contractual businesses. The situation
escalated to an overwhelming status, and they had to switch roles and he started managing the budget and
resources.

4. What is an example of "Role Dispute" as discussed in class?


The example was a married couple and their children, here in the U.S., living the American dream, where the
husband goes out and provides for the family while the wife attends to the children in the home. This model is no
longer the only model, we see a lot of situations where the wife is the breadwinner, managing the finances and
resources of the householder and the husband a stay-home dad taking care of the kids, situation where the role
dispute can occurs.

5. What are three subtypes of Behavioral therapy?


-> Systematic desensitization
-> Aversion
-> (Sorry, I didn’t find the 3rd one at the lecture)

6. Humanistic Counseling is when the client is encouraged to work toward living their most fulfilling life by being
true to themselves.(T-True or F-False) FALSE

7. Cognitive Behavioral is when the client is encouraged to work on patterns and how they negatively affect them.
