Subject: Proposal to conduct a 2 day workshop on Gesture Game Development at your

university as an instance of the outreach program of IIT-Kanpur for skill enhancement of young
engineers.

Techkriti is the annual technical and entrepreneurial festival of IIT kanpur. With the aim of
developing interest and encouraging innovation in technology among students. In seventeen
years of its existence, Techkriti has evolved and grown, fulfilling its purpose and becoming one
of the most eagerly-awaited college technical festivals in Asia.

Robofission Labs Pvt Ltd is a company located in Bangalore that works on niche concepts and
technologies like Human Computer Interaction, Human Robot Interaction, Augmented Reality,
Gesture Game Development and Social Robotics. The vision of the company is to provide
Science and Engineering students a first hand feel of cutting edge technology and its applications
and to motivate them to do out of the box research and product development.

Together we want to conduct a skill enhancement program on Gesture Game Development

which is a 2 day workshop which introduces students to the world of gesture recognition and
gesture controlled devices. Our vision algorithms can be used to control the mouse & keyboard
as well as play car & bike racing games, shooting games, bowling games, boxing & kick boxing
games, skiing & water surfing games, running & jumping games and also playing games like
cricket, volleyball, tennis, football etc using simple hand gestures. The main aim of this
workshop is to provide students with the knowledge of virtually controlled devices using vision
algorithms. The workshop will be an excellent foundation for those enthusiastic of Developing
Interactive Games or interested in pursuing a career in Gesture Game Development.

The proposed workshop will be conducted for 14 hours [4 sessions of 3.5 hours each], document
containing the session plans are in the following pages. They should provide a clear
understanding of the program outline. Incase you need any additional information at any point of

 1. LCD projector and Microphone PA system.
2. One desktop for every 3-4 participants.
3. Matlab Software on every Windows XP system.
4. Preferably net access for all systems allotted for the workshops.
5. Permission to install softwares on all systems allotted for the workshop.
6. Instead of (3),(4)&(5) participants can bring their own laptop with matlab installed.
7. A minimum of 30 participants for the workshop.

Other details of the Workshop:

1. The workshop will be conducted in your college campus.
2. Post workshop training material will be given to all participants.
3. Internationally recognized certificate of participation from IIT-Kanpur will be issued
upon completion of the workshop.
4. For every 3-4 participants there will be a Gesture Game Development kit given for the
workshop.
5. The kit is not take away.
6. The kit can be procured by the interested participants by paying Rs 500/- per kit after the
workshop.
7. The workshop is open to students from all branches and there are no pre-requisites for
attending the workshop.
