UNIT 1: How to live a long and healthy life

Mai: Hey, have you ever thought about how to live a long and healthy life?
May: Yes of course! I believe it's essential to take care of our health. So, what do you think are
some important things we should do?
Mai: Well, firstly, we should make sure to eat a balanced diet. It's important to include plenty of
fruits, vegetables, whole grains in our meals. By doing that, we can avoid many health problems.
May: That's great! I've been trying to incorporate more plant-based meals into my routine too.
It's amazing how much energy I have when I eat right. What do you think about staying active?
Mai: . Oh! And staying active is key too. I enjoy going for walks or riding bikes to refresh my
mind after a long time studying at school. Keeping our bodies active helps us maintain a healthy
weight, strengthens our muscles, and boosts our overall well-being.
May: I agree with you. I usually take part in many outdoor activities at the weekends, too. Oh,
and I think getting enough sleep is vital too. I've been working on creating a bedtime routine to
ensure I get quality rest about 7-8 hours. It helps improve my concentration, mood, and immune
system.
Mai: I struggle with that sometimes, but I know how important it is. I'm trying to wind down
before bed and limit screen time. It's a work in progress, but I'm determined to prioritize sleep.
May: ok. Additionally, we should avoid harmful habits like smoking and excessive alcohol
consumption. These behaviors can lead to serious health issues.
Mai: Absolutely! So, by eating well, exercising regularly, getting enough sleep, avoiding harmful
habits, we can increase our chances of living a long and healthy life.
May: Agreed!
Mai: You know, it's interesting how different our generation is compared to our parents'
generation.
May: Yeah, there's definitely a generation gap between us. We grew up with technology and
social media, while they didn't.
Mai: That's so true. It's like we're speaking a different language when it comes to technology.
May: I know what you mean. I remember my grandparents struggling with smartphones and
social media. They just didn't grow up with it, so it's a whole new world for them.
Mai: Yes, and it's not just technology. Our values and priorities also differ. Younger people are
very creative and flexible. They seek fulfillment and purpose in our careers. On the other hand,
the older generation may have a more traditional approach, emphasizing stability, loyalty, and
financial security.
May: yeah, They've experienced different economic and social environments, which has shaped
their outlook. We should listen to their stories and learn from their successes and failures.
Mai: Ok. But I think it's important to recognize that both generations have something valuable to
offer.
Mayi: I agree with you. We may have different challenges and lifestyles, but we can still find
common ground (điểm chung) and appreciate each other's differences.
Mai: That's true. It's about respecting each other's experiences and finding ways to bridge the gap
between our generations.
May: I agree. Let's keep those lines of communication open and learn from one another. That's
how we can bridge the generation gap and grow together.
