(b) A part-time candidate will normally com-
plete the programme in two academic years. If
a thesis is required, it must be passed within
four years of the date of first registration in the
Masters programme, unless the postgraduate
Committee of Senate determines otherwise.

4. PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

We consider credits from previous successful

study at the Postgraduate Level. However,
you must seek advice from the Dean , Faculty
of Science, who is more than happy to help.

A student must complete one of the five
options below:
- A supervised thesis of 50,000 words
- Topic approved by the Postgraduate Com-
mittee of Senate.
- Only learners admitted under 1(a) or 1(c)
may take this option.
- These learners may not necessarily need to
take HSC500 and/or HSC501.
- A supervised dissertation of 25,000 words
- Topic approved by the Postgraduate
Committee of Senate
- Plus three 500 level courses not previously
passed.
- Learners admitted under 1(a) and 1(c) may-
be required to gain a minimum C1 average
mark for HSC500 and/or HSC501.

6. SUPERVISOR
The Dean shall recommend to the Postgraduate
Committee of Senate, the name(s) of a supervi-
sor (or supervisors) for each applicant who is
enrolled in a thesis.
