REMO DANCE
I like traditional dances, especially Remo Dance. Do you know Remo Dance ?
Remo Dance is a welcoming dance. It is permormed by a single dancer or by group of dancers. Remo
dance has two styles, masculine, and feminine. Women dancers often perform masculine style and
men dancers often perform feminine style.
Remo dance was originally danced at the beginning of ludruk performance. Now.,it’s performed at
parties, folk festivals, or the commemorations of national holidays. Remo dance is permormed to
welcome a guests. Therefore, it is called welcoming dance.
Its characteristic movement are the beats of feet. A set of small bells is tied around the right ankle.
The bells tinkle when the dancer walks or beats the floor with his or her right foot.

On Wednesday, my students and I went to Jogjakarta. We stayed at Dirgahayu Hotel which is not far
from Malioboro.
On Thursday we visited the temples in Prambanan. There are three bog temples, The Brahmana,
Syiwa and Wisnu temples. They are really amazing. We visited only Brahma and Syiwa temples,
because Wisnu temple is being renovated.
On Friday morning we went to Jogja palace. We spent about two hours there. Wewere lucky
because we were led by a smart and friendly guide. Then we continued our journey to Borobudur.
We arrived there at four p.m at 5 p.m. We Heard an announcement that Borobudur gate would be
closed.
