Remote Desktop Viewer is a program for personal computers to connect to drill rigs over a
data network to monitor events in a drill rig’s control system.
The Remote Desktop Viewer communication operates over a WireLess Network (WLAN)
provided by the customer. i.e. Atlas Copco does not deliver any wireless network. The
customer is responsible for the functions and quality of the WLAN.
2. PREREQUISITES
• Supported operating systems:
Windows 2003 Server
Windows XP
Windows 2000 Server
Windows 2000 Professional
• Turn on the laptop computer and locate the laptop IP address at the top right corner of
the screen.
Note: This IP address screen shot is for reference only. The IP address may vary.
• Log into rig display. Select System, then Administration to go to screen M1.4.
• Click “IP configuration” button on the GUI to go to “IP configuration” screen.
• After change CCI IP address, turn off display and turn it back on to make the
change effective. Go to screen M1.4 to verify CCI IP address is updated.
Alias is the rig name visible to the user. For example: for rig S/N 4614, alias can
4614. IP address is CCI IP address. i.e. 169.254.120.33. The new line inserted
should be: 4614; 169.254.120.33.
• Start the application by selecting “Remote Display” from your start menu. By default this
path is: “Start -> All Program -> Atlas Copco -> Remote Display->Remote Display”.
You can also stat the application by double-clicking the “Remote Display” icon on the
desktop.
• When the application is started the first step is to connect to a rig. Select “File-
>Connect…”
• In the connect dialog box enter a valid User name and password and select the rig you
want to connect to from the drop down list box.
(Enter Username as “admin”, Password as “atlas1”)

Note: The user name and password are only used to verify connection to the rig.
7. CONNECTING TO A RIG
When you are connected to a rig, you can see the operator’s user interface. You can navigate
in the control system menus as if you were on the rig and view events in real time, but you
cannot control the rig or change nay settings.
Navigation takes place by means of the keyboard’s arrow keys in the same way as on the rig.
Certain actions can be performed with the mouse, but using the mouse to navigate in the
menus is not recommended.
Select “File -> Disconnect” to disconnect from the rig or “File -> Exit”, which will
disconnect before closing the application.
9. CONNECTION PROBLEMS
The program will pop up error messages if connection problems occur.
• Communication error
Verify that the rig is on-line and that the ip-address entered in the configuration file is
correct.
