About the Academy of Sciences (ASC)
• To review periodically the state of education, research, development and application in the various
branches of sciences.
• To provide help and guidance to the State Government of Tamil Nadu on request in matters related
to Science and Technology.
• To recommend grants for specialized development and organization of special courses that have an
applied relevance to the needs of the State,
• To organize, or help organize Seminars, Symposia and Conferences at the State, National and
International levels,
• To promote coordination between various national and international Societies and Institutions of
Science and Technology in this State and to publish proceedings, Journals, Memoirs, Transactions,
Monographs and Newsletters and to undertake other relevant activities.

About the Programme ASC - SRIP:

The Academy of Sciences (ASC), Chennai introduces a new initiative called "Summer Research
Internship Program (SRIP)" from the academic year 2024 - 2025 onwards like other national Academy. In
this context, the Academy felt to pool up the expertise of Fellows of Academy to support this move of
Academy to offer research exposure in current trends of Science and Technology to PG students preferably
from affiliated Colleges/ Universities from rural parts of Tamilnadu.

Eligibility Criteria:
• The applicants pursuing I M.Sc degree in Physical/Chemical/ Mathematical/
Biological Sciences are eligible.
• Only passionate/interested applicants will be preferred for this SRIP.
• Accommodation and Travel allowances must be met by the applicants only.
• The applicants must provide “No Objection Certificate (or) Bonafide Certificate”
from the parent colleges/Universities.
