1.3 Description of warnings

This chapter provides information on the warnings used in this manual.

Table 2: Warnings
Symbol Description
Warning
A warning is a statement that alerts the user to the possibility of a system
failure, business problem, damaged data or other serious adverse reactions
associated with the use of the software.
Caution
A caution is a statement that alerts the user to the possibility of a business
problem or processing issues. It brings up an issue that the user would better
pay attention to, even if it’s not a system critical matter.
Note
A note is a helpful hint, sometimes a tip, to help the user work more efficient-
ly. Without a note, a user may lose precious time and get frustrated while
trying to understand why something is not working.

1.4 Maintenance and Support

1.4.1 Application- & Product-Support Services in Operating Phase (APO)

The Application- & Product-Support Services in Operating Phase (APO) department offers, additionally to
the offers for software maintenance, a wide range of support services and training programs. The portfolio
of solutions includes services for our own products and for partner products. It includes market-leading
technologies and complex client solutions.
The APO area is the company's most important success factor, due to sustained satisfaction of customers
because of full support, the availability of knowledgeable contact partners and a fast and high-quality
requests and problems management procedure.

1.5 - Release cycles and version policy
HICO X-Browser® Release Notes

The accomplishment of challenges by the APO is a cross-departmental procedure with central responsibility.
They actively involve all the necessary, organisational units in the company, mainly the product specialists
and processing units. Our customers also benefit from the dedicated Single Point of Contact (SPOC)
available on request and thus the communication and integration of external support organisations. Some
of the specified product manufacturers and partners of HICO are, for example, PTC Parametric Technology
Corporation and Tridion B.V.
Highly-motivated, qualified and certified employees ensure the services of the APO, and thus make sure that
the products that are used by customers have a maximum of security and quality.

1.4.2 HICO Helpdesk

The web interface of the HICO Helpdesk offers different options to our customers. With this it is possible to
send messages and receive documents through a document management system.
The HICO Helpdesk is accessible via the URL: https://support.hico.com.
It is also possible to reach the HICO Helpdesk through the HICO telephone hotline. This support is only
provided for customers with a Service Level Agreement (SLA).
The HICO telephone hotline number is 00800-70461450 and is available for our customers from Monday to
Thursday from 7:45 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. and Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m (Central European Time —
CET).
When calling the HICO telephone hotline, our customers are connected to any of our HICO Call Centre
agents who give assistance to the customer in creating a new ticket.
The call centre agent then forwards this ticket to the dispatcher on duty, who makes an initial analysis of
the issues. The related 1st level helpdesk support also receives this ticket. If no solution can be found, the
dispatcher then decides, together with the customer, about the involvement of the escalation management
team.

1.5 Release cycles and version policy

For each delivery a delivery note, showing the products and delivered articles, must be signed by the
customer. Ensure that the product and article name are compliant with the regulations.
Definition: Release is used in the meaning of “Issue state of a software”.

1.5.1 Release cycles

From a customer perspective software versions have the following meanings:

Issue: 017 PMC-HICOCOR-2387N-00011-00_017-00_en-GB
1.6 - Change Notes
HICO X-Browser® Release Notes

− ALPHA: A software version which was released by the product management for integration testing in
defined customer projects, which supports the development of standard products. The ALPHA software
version may not have the whole functionality according to the requirement definition.
− BETA: Issued for integration testing analogous to ALPHA, however with an advanced software version.
In BETA, the software must have necessarily the whole functionality of the software according to the
requirement definition.
− RTO (Ready to OEM or collaboration partners): Basically this software includes the full range of
functions and is equated with "FINAL" from a QA perspective and allowed for production use. "RTO" is
particularly used when new modules and features were developed for an OEM or defined collaboration
partners, which have to be tested intensively before the market release. The RTO cycle may result in
the decision not to share custom modules or specific functional groups in the "market release" (market
release of a defined software version).
− FINAL: Issue of a defined software version ("market release") for all customers of HICO with a valid and
upright software maintenance contract.

1.5.2 Version policy

According to the license and software maintenance agreements of HICO, the version number is as follows:
− Major-Release: The latest major release software, which is usually released each year. New versions
may contain technical as well as functional adaptations or improvements. Technical adaptations may
also include support for newer versions of operating systems and database systems. Generally,
modified functions result in changes to the user documentation. For the company's own products, the
version number for a major release can be identified by the first block of numbers and is provided with a
build number. Major releases are also called "software upgrades".
− Minor-Release: However, technically-improved minor releases serving above all to eliminate errors,
may also contain minor program improvements and additional functions. Generally, minor releases do
not result in any changes to the user documentation. For the company's own products, the version
number for a minor release can be identified by the second block of numbers and is provided with a
build number. Minor releases are also called "software updates".
− Patch-Release: Technically-improved versions serving exclusively to eliminate errors (e.g. patches, bug
fixes). These modifications do not result in any changes to the user documentation. For the company's
own products, the version number for patch releases can be identified by the third block of numbers and
is provided with a build number.

1.6 Change Notes

1.6.1.1 Version 9.3

To ensure the full functionality of the HICO X-Browser® 9.3.0, LoadData

1.6 - Change Notes
HICO X-Browser® Release Notes

1.6.1.2 Older versions

The HICO X-Browser® 9.2.0 no longer supports the "Microsoft Internet Explorer 11"
browser.
A list of the requirements for supported Internet browsers and the browsers/versions
currently explicitly tested by HICO can be found in the system requirements under the
chapter "Software requirements" - "Required software components".

To ensure the full functionality of the HICO X-Browser® 9.2.0, LoadData

package instances created with HICO iPS.Suite® 8.1.0 (or higher) and the
corresponding HICO StyleSheet Set 4.1.0 (or higher) are required.

To ensure the full functionality of HICO X-Browser® 9.0.0, HICO X-Browser®

instances created with HICO iLS.Suite® 8.0.0 (or higher) and the corresponding
HICO StyleSheet Set 4.0.0 (or higher) are required.

The "bookmark" functionality has been completely integrated into the

application in the HICO X-Browser® 9.0.0. The previously used functionality
of "bookmarks saved directly in the underlying Internet browser" is no longer
used.
Existing bookmarks cannot be migrated for technical reasons and must
therefore be entered again by the user.

The functionality for "anonymous login" has been changed in HICO X-Browser®
9.0.0.
Now - with the possibility of "anonymous login" - the application is always
logged in with the current operating system user. Details about the new
configuration during installation can be found in the installation manual.

The HICO X-Browser® 9.0.0 should be used with HICO DeMoS v3.1.0 (or higher).
The connection to a HICO DeMoS v2.0.0 is basically possible, but does not have all
the functionalities supported by the HICO X-Browser® 9.0.0.
Connection to HICO DeMoS v1.0.0 is not supported.

The HICO X-Browser® 8.0.0 should be used with HICO DeMoS v2.0.0 (or higher).

HICO X-Browser® Release Notes

1.6.4 Other Information

In the HICO X-Browser® 9.0.0, a new user settings “Use native pdf plugin” has been
introduced. This setting will be “deactivated” by default. This leads to the behaviour,
that the new functionality “highlight search terms also in PDF documents” is active as
standard.
Therefore, if - as in the previous versions of the application - the PDF is opened using
the application selected by the Internet browser or operating system, this setting must
be manually set to "activated" by the user.

1.7 Version overview

The tables below show the history of use of released product revisions. The documentation was written from
scratch as the HICO X-Browser® v6.x is a complete rework. The documentation does not include the history
of the preceding revisions.

This provides the user with a simple way of restricting his search area to the relevant parts of the
documentation, which is especially useful if there are large navigation structures present.

HICO X-Browser® Release Notes

2.1.3.1.3 Performance optimization of the navigation tree

Expanding hierarchies with several 1000 nodes in the same level of the navigation tree took quite some
seconds. The performance of the navigation tree has been optimized so that this scenario now also takes
less than one second.

2.1.3.2 Other improvements or extensions compared to version 9.1

XBR-1705 The "QR Code Scanner" button is now displayed in the Dashboard by default.
The functionality itself was already available in previous versions of the application, but
from this version onwards also corresponding LoadData packages can be created. This
means that the function can be used productively by all customers.

XBR-1691 The display of the file size is now differentiated according to the language settings of
the user (different decimal separators).

XBR-1677 The "Password" input field for the connection to HICO DeMoS has been extended to
allow all "Special Characters" to be used as password characters.

XBR-1673 The help for the HICO X-Browser is now also provided in HTML format and installed
with the setup by default.

XBR-1672 The list of users and their attributes can be exported to Excel and PDF.
XBR-1657

XBR-1627 The values for the "Applicability" settings will be stored for each publication and user.
When the publication is viewed again, the settings from the last view of this publications
will be automatically restored and re-used.

XBR-1626 The user preferences now include an option for whether or not to display change
markings.
This option is activated by default and the change markings are highlighted in a differ-
ent color as before.

XBR-1624 The search parameters entered by the user in text fields are now remembered. Each
user can access his latest 10 search queries in the corresponding text fields and does
not have to re-type them.

XBR-1619 The "read confirmation" of the user for displayed "Warnings"/"Cautions"/"Notes" in a

DM is now also registered in the corresponding "Action Log" of the application. With
this it is transparent which user has confirmed which "Warnings"/"Cautions"/"Notes" in
which data module at what time.

XBR-1597 The existing "breadcrumb" navigation has been extended so that the entries now also
reach down to data module level. If there is not enough space to display the entire
breadcrumb navigation, the middle entries are grouped together into a "...".

XCP-1048 The text about HICO-ICS GmbH on the "Support" and "Imprint" pages have been
adapted.

XCP-1015 The handling of images that do not match the expected aspect ratio of the icon has
been improved.

XCP-1012 TaskSet: A click on a TaskSet entry in the overview list now leads to the content and
not to editing the corresponding TaskSet entry.

XCP-994 The Support for Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 has been removed

XCP-990 The user setting "DisableTextRedlining" was changed to "EnableTextRedlining".

A corresponding migration (=inversion of the currently set value) for this option will take
place when installing version 3.3.0

XCP-959 The button to confirm entries in the dashboard now shows the text "Apply" instead of
"Save".
The reason for this is that this action actually only transfers the element to the dash-
board and does not yet save it. The "Save" of the entire (changed) dashboard must be
done separately using the corresponding button.

XCP-956 The change request overview list now also includes a filter for "exported" and "non-ex-
ported" change requests.

XCP-954 It is now possible to add favorites to data modules in historical (=non current) versions.
When calling the corresponding favorite, the user is then directed to the data module in
exactly the selected version of the publication

XCP-927 In the HICO iPS.Suite, unstructured content can be entered for a publication in addition
to the revised pages. Any document inserted there is now also exported and can be
displayed in the application using the corresponding button.

XCP-924 Starting with this release, automatic processes are executed by a newly introduced
"system user".
This extension became necessary because the introduced "enhanced logging" also
includes the executing user. Thus, also system processes had to be initiated by a
"system user" that exists within the application.

XCP-723 With the HICO X-Browser v9.2.0 the possibility to "redline" text passages has been
introduced.
This functionality has been extended in the current version. It is now also possible
to view stated annotation though an overlay with will pop-up when the mouse hovers
over the annotated text. If the overlay is not preferred, the user can deactivate it in his
personal settings.

XCP-708 The HICO X-Browser offers from this version onwards the possibility to individually
parametrize the time interval for recurring or background processes. Currently, the
following functionalities are affected
− synchronization with the HICO DeMoS
− the synchronization with the LDAP system
− the CleanUp Task and
− all future available processes

The configuration options themselves are described with the corresponding processes.
This extension became necessary as with the rise of the processed data volumes a
uniform interval could not be used any longer.

2.1 - Versions 9.x
HICO X-Browser® Release Notes

2.1.4 Version 9.1.0

2.1.4.1 Key Features at a Glance

The following key features were implemented in this version:

2.1.4.1.1 Implementation of the HICO X-Browser:APP(Win)

The application can be executed directly in an optimized form on Windows tablets or other "touch devices".
The functionalities familiar from the HICO X-Browser are also available here.
The new functionality is activated via a license.
If this license is available, a "mobile view" can also be activated in the previously standard HICO X-
Browser:Desktop.

2.1.4.1.2 Processing of QR Codes

In this version of the HICO X-Browser the user has for the first time a functionality to read QR Codes of the
type "GS1 DataMatrix".
Corresponding codes or code parts can be stored in the HICO iLS.Suite for data modules. If a user scans
a corresponding code on a component or documentation, the associated data modules appear in the
application. This enables the end user to easily access the respective data module without having to make
manual entries.

2.1.4.1.3 Redlining of texts

The HICO X-Browser offers from this version on the possibility to do a "redlining" on text passages. Texts
can be marked and used as source for notes or change requests. The marked texts are specially marked so
that an end user can easily find out which areas have already been commented on.
The "Redlining" is part of the HICO X-Browser:Review and is automatically activated if a license is available.
In addition to a valid license, the user of the application must also have appropriate rights. The rights can be
assigned at publication level to ensure targeted use of the functions.

2.1.4.1.4 Expansion of the Dashboard

The existing dashboard can now be configured per user. This allows individual users to preset the start page
with the most frequently used functions. For each element a corresponding size and position can be defined.

HICO X-Browser® Release Notes

2.1.4.2 Other improvements or extensions compared to version 9.0

Reference Description

XBR-1637 The tooltips in the application were aligned between the languages and generally
extended.

XBR-1662 The currently logged actions were extended to include additional types. In addition,
access to the individual data modules is now also logged and not just the access to the
XBR-1621 entire publication.
XBR-1620 The administrator has now the possibility to view the logged actions in an overview list
XBR-1618 and filter them accordingly
Furthermore, there is also the possibility to export entries. These entries can then either
be downloaded as a ZIP file or synchronized with a connected HICO DeMoS. It is also
possible to retrieve entries from another application via the API.

XBR-1617 In ConfigCenter it is now possible to define the level from which a confirmation of
"Warnings" and "Cautions" should take place.

XBR-1614 Since there are now several user-specific settings in the application, a "Reset to Default
Settings" has been implemented. This resets all user-specific settings to the predefined
"DefaultUserSettings".

XBR-1576 The user now has the possibility to enter explicitly "private" and "public" notes.

XBR-1504 Export control: Enhancements for handling export control data.

In addition to the individual data modules themselves, the underlying structure is now
also protected. Links to data modules within protected structures are checked. If there
are too few rights, the link now leads to the first protected data module and a corre-
sponding message about insufficient rights is displayed.

XBR-796 Possibility of adapting the application to customer-specific CI specifications

The customer now has the possibility to adapt the application to his CI/CD via a specific
"customer.css" file. The file can be delivered directly with the setup and overrides the
standard defaults.

XBR-1596 If only one content language is available in a LoadData package, the language change
button will be hidden immediately.

XBR-1595 The setting option for "Applicability" has been moved to the main menu bar to provide a
more comfortable access for the user.

XBR-1583 Change requests: Optimizations for presentation and creation, so that more space is
available for the content to be created.
XBR-1582
The maximum number of possible characters in each field has been increased.

XBR-1581 Change requests: The display of the list of all change requests has been optimized
(number and width of columns, display of extra-long text as tooltip, ...)

XBR-1580 Notes: The display of the notes list has been optimized (number and width of columns;
display of extra long text as tooltip, ...)

XBR-1579 The shopping cart now opens as a dialog instead of a separate tab.

Reference Description

XBR-1555 The currently existing "Add Favourites" and "Remove Favourites" buttons have been
converted to a toggle button.

XBR-1544 Similar to the view in the HICO X-ContentPortal®, publications can now also be dis-
played as a list in the HICO X-Browser.
The application has been enhanced to automatically detect supported, partially suppor-
XCP-910 ted and unsupported Internet browsers and to notify the user accordingly.
Existing favorites can also be edited, moved and deleted via the dashboard.
XCP-896
ConfigCenter: The ConfigCenter texts have been extended by a "multi-language func-
XCP-895 tionality". This means that ConfigCenter texts can now be entered in any language. By
default, the current version includes the texts in "German" and "English".
ConfigCenter: When entering an "https" URL, the ConfigCenter now automatically of-
XCP-894 fers the option to select an SSL certificate available on the system. This simplifies the
XCP-911 step that previously had to be performed manually.
Starting from this version, the user can choose in his settings whether a search result
XCP-889 list is always opened in the current window or in a new tab by default.

2.1.5 Version 9.0.0

2.1.5.1 Key Features at a Glance

The following key features were implemented in this version:

2.1.5.1.1 Alignment of layout with the HICO X-ContentPortal®

The biggest change in this release is certainly the harmonization of the layout with the HICO X-
ContentPortal. The user is now provided with a unified interface for both systems. The functionalities that are
available in both applications are completely identical from this version onwards and the handling is therefore
completely synchronous.
Features that are only applicable to the HICO X-Browser (e.g.: customer-specific setup used for the
installation on individual devices) are of course still available or have even be extended.

2.1.5.1.2 Extentsion to the “external Interface”

Currently, external applications can use this interface to pass the data module code as well as the optional
parameters "ProjectId", "ProjectCode" and "Variant" to the HICO X-Browser.
The interface has now been extended so that also "applicability" information can be transferred. It is
therefore possible to retrieve the documentation based on type, series, serial number or other applicability
information.

2.1.5.1.3 User-specific Task Lists

In this version of the HICO X-Browser a task list functionality is available to the user for the first time. Several
of these user-specific lists can be created and managed side by side. The individual lists each have their
own "lifetime" and can also reference completely different data modules.
In addition, already completed task lists can be viewed in an overview with the respective "final state" of the
corresponding data module entries.

2.1.5.1.4 Highlighting of search terms in found PDF documents

The HICO X-ContentPortal now offers the possibility to highlight found search terms also in PDF documents.
If there are several search hits in the PDF, it is possible to jump from one occurrence to the next - as it is
already possible with structured content.
This function can be configured per user and is set by default to activate highlighting in PDF documents.

2.1.5.2 Other enhancements compared to version 8.0

Referenz Beschreibung

XBR-1523 The HICO X-ContentPortal now offers the possibility to access external applications
directly via an integrated menu. The external application opens in a separate tab and
XBR-1524 allows the user to quickly change to predefined complementary applications (e.g.:
Maintenance System, Fault Isolation System, internal Wiki, ...) without the need to
leave the HICO X-ContentPortal.
The external applications that shall be available can be defined globally in a separate
section. The entries will be visible to all users of the application.

XBR-1407 When confirming a mandatory ATI, the list is now positioned in a way that the selected
entry is highlighted and visible. This means that the user no longer has to scroll man-
ually to the selected entry, if it is not visible in the initial section. .

XBR-1399 The visibility of the search selection button (with the default text "aAa") has been
checked and improved in all available "Themes".

XBR-1376 The content of notes and change requests has been added to the search index. There-
fore, search results will now also generate hits if the searched term is available within
notes and change requests.
The user interface has been extended in order to allow the user to restrict search hits to
occur if the searched term is only available within notes or change requests.

XBR-1365 If there are "Revised Pages" in the underlying LoadData package, they can now be
transported and retrieved through the application. Depending on the underlying file
type, the document is either opened in a new tab or downloaded as a file.

XBR-1334 The search now starts for all available search fields directly after entering a value and
pressing the "Enter" key. Until now, this behaviour was only implemented for specific
search fields.

XBR-1329 The name of a "Custom View" is now translated to the appropriate language when the
user changes the content language.

XBR-1311 Additional redlining features are available for graphics. In addition to the existing func-
tionalities, the highlighting can now also be done using rectangles, ellipses or arrows.
Furthermore, it is also possible to add additional text directly in the graphic

XBR-1314 It is now possible to view a full list of all existing change requests inside the application.
This list can be filtered according to various criteria (e.g. project, package, status, ...) in
order to narrow down what is important to the user.
Found change requests can be viewed or edited directly from within the list.

XBR-1309 From this version onwards, "change request packages" can be imported.
This enables the data exchange of change requests with the underlying HICO iLS.Suite
system without the need to create a completely new LoadData package.
For details see also the corresponding HICO iLS.Suite feature IS-9631.

XBR-1110 From this version onwards, created notes will be stored and shown depending on the
selected content language.

STYLE-2514 The generated "startpage" now also contains information on the export classifications
contained in the publication. If documents with an export classification are included, the
STYLE-2239 corresponding categories are displayed on the start page.

2.2 Versions 8.x

If "revisions" are used when creating LoadData packages, a new "full build" must be
created with the HICO iLS.Suite v8.0 to be able to use updates afterwards with the
HICO X-Browser v8.0.
The reason for this are changes within the export mechanism in the HICO iLS.Suite
which lead to the fact that "Delta Update" LoadData packages can only be installed on
a current "Full Build" LoadData package.

With the current version of the HICO X-Browsers it is no longer possible to download
LoadData packages from HICO DeMoS v1.0.
Connections to HICO DeMoS v2.0 are basically possible, but do not support the full
range of features of the HICO X-Browsers v8.0.

Changes to the "Print" Function

Due to technical changes in the current version of the HICO X-Browsers the
"Print" functionality will only work with LoadData packages that are compatible
with the current version of the HICO iLS.Suite.
If a LoadData package created with an earlier version of HICO iLS.Suite
is viewed with the current HICO X-Browser, the "Print" function cannot be
executed.
Printing via the standard print functionality of the underlying Internet browser
can still be used.

Changes to the "Print with References" Function

Due to technical changes in the current version of the HICO X-Browser, the
"Print with References" functionality will only work with LoadData packages
created with the current version of the HICO iLS.Suite.
If a LoadData package created with an earlier version of HICO iLS.Suite is
viewed with the current HICO X-Browser, the function "Print with references"
cannot be executed.

2.2 - Versions 8.x
HICO X-Browser® Release Notes

2.2.2 Version 8.0.0

2.2.2.1 Key Features at a glance

In this version the following key features have been implemented:

2.2.2.1.1 Enhancements of the setup functionality

With this version of the HICO X-Browser®, extended possibilities for the installation of the HICO X-Browser
at the end customer are available. This enables customer-specific settings within the application as well as
the installation of LoadData packages during setup.
For each end customer, independent content can be defined for the "Support" and "Imprint" pages as well as
customer-specific logs.
Furthermore, there is now the option to automatically delete all LoadData packages installed on the system
when uninstalling the application.

2.2.2.1.2 Access rights to classified publications

Starting with this version of the HICO X-Browser®, classified publications (e.g. ITAR documents) will not only
be color-coded, but also assigned rights.
This means that individual users or entire groups can be granted explicit authorizations for such publications
or not. The administrator can assign authorizations to individual users or groups within the application.
If the user has no right to read a classified publication, a corresponding error message is displayed in the
content.

Due to these extensions, it must be checked for existing installations of the HICO
X-Browser whether group authorizations must be reconfigured within the application.
Otherwise, it is possible that users with the existing authorizations may no longer see
classified publications.

2.2.2.1.3 Extension by automated update of projects with variants

Starting with this version of the HICO X-Browser®, TechPub-Projects with different "variants" can be called
up and updated via the HICO DeMoS.

2.2.2.1.4 Enhancement for Change Requests

Starting with this version of the HICO X-Browser®, attachments to change requests can also be added via
"Drag & Drop" or "Copy & Paste".
In addition, the exchange format was adapted to the HICO iLS:Suite and extended filter options were added.
In addition, the assignment of change requests to project/work packages was optimized.

2.3 Versions 7.x

2.3.1 Special instructions

This section contains important notes for the current as well as for the next version.

2.3.2 Version 7.0.0

2.3.2.1 Key Features at a Glance

In this version, the following main features have been implemented:

2.3.2.1.1 Enhancement of the printing functionality for IPD data modules

From this version of the HICO X-Browser® there are two new printing functions available for IPD data
modules. The user has now additionally to the existing function the possibility to print only the table or
illustration of the IPD.

2.3.2.1.2 Provision of Hofix setups

From this version of the HICO X-Browser® hotfixes are provided as standalone or update setups.
This should reduce the complexity of installations and provide the user with an easy way to install hotfixes.

2.3.2.1.3 Version validation of LoadData packages

Up to now, no validation to the underlying version of the iLS.Suite of uploaded “LoadData packages” has
been performed. However, the HTML 5 stylesheets stored in the HICO ilS.Suite contribute significantly to the
existing functionality within the HICO X-Browser. As a result, existing functions cannot be used correctly or
not at all, when using old “LoadData packages”.
The current version of the HICO X-Browser therefore validates the compatibility between the HICO X-
Browser and the imported LoadData package for the first time. In the event of compatibility deviations, a
corresponding "warning" is displayed to the user.

2.4.6 Version 6.0.0

2.4.6.1 Key Features at a Glance

2.4.6.1.1 Change of underlying Technology

In this version of the HiCo X-Browser®, a change of the underlying technology has been done. The new
HiCo X-Browser® is now based on a client-server architecture, allowing multiple end-users to access the
same data at the same time. The client implementation is based on HTML5 supporting a completely web-
based solution. With this given, client installations are no longer necessary as the web-browser covers this
functionality.

2.4.6.1.2 Web-Browser Independence

Due to the new client architecture of the HiCo X-Browser®, the access over a standard web-browser is
possible. Right now, the following browsers will be supported
− Internet Explorer
− Chrome
− Firefox and
− Safari

2.4.6.1.3 Support of distributed and “Stand-Alone” installation

By heading for the given architecture, a “stand-alone” mode can as well be supported as a distributed
installation. This means that based on the underlying scenario, different operating modes can be supported
without having to change the central application.

2.4.6.1.4 Support of Interactive Wiring Diagrams (Implementation Step 1)

In the first implementation step to the Interactive Wiring Diagram functionality, the visualisation of data
modules based on the S1000D Schema “Wiring data” was covered. This enables the application to display
and link Wiring diagrams similar to the functionality used in IPC data modules.

2.4.6.1.5 User and package Permissions

The new HiCo X-Browser® includes user- and role based access and supports a protection to the data
packages. Related to the user- and role based access rights, functionality will be available within the
application. This functionality also includes the visibility limitation to certain data packages.

3.1 Versions 9.x

3.1.1 Version 9.3.0

Reference Description

XBR-1735 The sorting of the search results did not trigger a new search query. Therefore, only the
already loaded results has been sorted.

XBR-1739 If you click on a link with a part number in the HICO X-Browser® AppShell, you get the
error message that the HICO X-Browser® Service is not available.

XBR-1740 There was a spelling error in the configuration of base addresses in the HICO X-Brows-
er® ConfigCenter.

XBR-1741 In the HICO X-Browser® ConfigCenter, the entries in the selection lists for confirming
technical information and WCN entries were not correctly localized.

XBR-1745 The current scroll position was transferred to the target data module during navigation
via a data module link.

XBR-1751 Chapter numbers were displayed in the generated overview pages, although they have
been deactivated in the HICO X-Browser® user settings.

XBR-1761 The scroll position of additional technical information has been persisted. This was ot
correct since the entry point of an additional technical information should always start at
the beginning of the document.

XBR-1770 Highlighting content after a search did not work correctly.

XBR-1773 When deleting the process runs in the HICO X-Browser®, the associated process logs
are not removed from the HICO X-Browser® storage.

3.1.5 Version 9.2.0

Reference Description

XBR-1718 For the "Notes" in the structure, the tooltip on the button "Show" was missing.

XBR-1675 In the user interface, the option "Export Control" was sometimes incorrectly named as
"ITAR". The text has now been changed to the more general "Export Control" at all
occurrences.

XCP-1025 The buttons in the user settings were displayed too far to the left. This resulted in
unnecessary text breaks and poor readability.

XCP-1023 When assigning a group to a user, the column widths in the "Groups" tab were initially
incorrect. These were only displayed correctly after a reload.

XCP-1013 When connecting to an LDAP system some LDAP passwords could not be verified
correctly. The reason for this was that specific special characters were ignored during
the transfer to the LDAP system and thus the password comparison failed.

XCP-995 Active dialogs were sometimes closed when activities were performed outside the
dialog, even though the action was not actually finished by the user.

XCP-975 The answer text boxes in the section Change Requests have been located too far on
the right hand side.

3.1.8 Version 9.0.1

Reference Description

XBR-1570 Using Mozilla Firefox and an http connection to the application has led to errors in the
log-in.

XBR-1567 The “Storage” folder from previous installations of the HICO X-Browser has not been
deleted
As there is no data migration from previous versions of the application, a “Storage” fold-
er in the default installation path will now be deleted completely during the installation.

XBR-1566 The values for “BaseAddress”, “Storage Directory” and “Log Directory” had to be filled
manually while initially setting up the application using the HICO ConfigCenter.
This led to frequent configuration errors. As result from this, the initial values stated in
the installation manual will now show up as default in the corresponding input fields.

XBR-1565 When uninstalling the HICO X-Browsers v9 using the standard Microsoft Windows
menu, the “Storage” folder has not been removed correctly, even if the corresponding
setup option “Remove Storage” has been selected.

3.1.9 Version 9.0.0

Reference Description

XBR-1496 When exporting change requests, the "identificationdata" section is now filled correctly.

XBR-1327 The sorting of certain columns inside the administration interface did not work correctly.

XBR-1157 In the user list, the "System User" and "Active" displays were not write-protected.
The change of the values was not adopted, but it looked as if this would have been
possible.

XBR-1174 The filtering options for "Yes/No" fields did not work in the "List of Change Requests"
and the "List of Users".

XBR-1175 The handling of "Folders" in "Custom Views" was incorrect.

HICO X-Browser® Release Notes

Reference Description

XBR-1209 The button "Add to Shopping Cart" sometimes added the last entry instead of the
currently clicked one.

XBR-1225 Switching the display language showed occasional ChangeRequests in the wrong lan-
guage.

XBR-1226 A failed connection to the DeMoS server is only displayed to users with administration
rights and not to all users.

XBR-1235 Too long names for nodes in the tree have led to unwanted formatting.

XBR-1246 DeMoS: During running installation processes, it was possible to get an active "Install"
button again even though the installation was running.

XBR-1251 A "NullRef" error occurred with missing revision information in a "Delta" LoadData
Package.

XBR-1254 The "Duration" calculation in the "Package Import" dashboard was incorrect.

XBR-1277 Generated links on the "Root" overview page did not work correctly.

XBR-1283 It was possible to save two different "help files" with the same title.

IsoView plug.

XBR-1315 DeMoS: If a new "Full" package was available, the currently installed "Delta" package
was not displayed as "Outdated".

XBR-1339 Deleting the "active" package under "Package history" caused the LoadData package
to be invisible to normal users because there was no active entry.

XBR-1370 When executing a search and directly afterwards searching for another term that leads
to the same data module, the content has not been reloaded. Due to this the search
highlights from the previous search remained and the end-user got the impression as if
the application does not react.

XBR-1394 The migration of existing users caused problems when the settings of the standard
users have been changed in previous version of the application.

3.3 Versions 7.x

3.3.1 Version 7.0.0

XBR-1109 If the “Additional information”-area (i.e. the tabs with “Search results”, “Change notes”,
“ATIs” and “ACIs” below the content area) was opened, the displayed tab was not
changed if this was initiated via the buttons in the menu bar. This means: When having
opened the tab “ATIs” and clicking on the menu bar “Change Requests”, no switchover
took place.
XBR-1108 Exported change requests could still be deleted via the administration interface.
XBR-1106 Given DeMoS settings have not been migrated correctly. The values were empty and
had to be filled again manually.
XBR-1105 The confirmation prompt was missing when deleting attachments to a change request.
XBR-1104 When resetting the search, the number of hits in the result list was not reset.
XBR-1103 When switching the language in the publication, the structure and the preview were
updated in the new language, but not any existing search results. A previous search
still displayed the search hits in the "old" language.

XBR-1086 attacks
XBR-1041 The "Loading Indicator" of the navigation tree remained temporarily visible, although
the tree was already loaded correctly.
XBR-1039 The page for testing the DeMoS settings was unreadable when using the “Black” theme
(black writing on a black background).
XBR-1038 The calculation of the "outdated" display for downloaded DeMoS packages did not
deliver the correct results in some cases.
XBR-1034 During logging for accepting the “mandatory ATIs/ACIs” , the service user was logged
and not the actually logged in user.
XBR-1033 During logging for accepting the “mandatory ATIs/ACIs” , the service user was logged
and not the actually logged in user.
XBR-1010 The download of LoadData packages from the HICO DeMoS led to endless waiting
times if the Internet connection was interrupted during the download.
XBR-1002 If objects did only exist in the SNS or system tree of a TechPub-Package, these were
not correctly included in the search index.
