My research topic will be:

Development of New Organic Synthesis Methods and Their Application in Drug Research and
Development:

In the pursuit of advancing therapeutic innovation, the development of new organic synthesis methods
and their application in drug research and development will be paramount. This research proposal is
aimed at contributing to this critical field by pioneering novel approaches in organic synthesis and their
subsequent application in drug discovery. Specifically, the focus will be on designing and synthesizing
organic compounds and molecular probes to investigate the biosynthesis of Phosphatidylinositol
mannosides (PIMs), with the overarching objective of identifying potential drug candidates to combat
infectious diseases.

The objectives of this research endeavor will be twofold. Firstly, innovative synthetic routes and methods
will be established for the efficient and scalable synthesis of organic compounds. Modern techniques
such as parallel synthesis and medicinal chemistry will be leveraged to streamline the synthesis process
and enhance its scalability. In addition, underutilized photochemical transformations will be explored to
access complex chemical scaffolds efficiently. Collaboration with experienced scientists in organic
synthesis will provide valuable insights and expertise to propel this objective forward. Secondly,
molecular probes tailored for studying PIMs biosynthesis will be designed and synthesized. This will
involve creating a diverse library of novel compounds, with a specific focus on molecular probes capable
of elucidating the intricate interactions between enzymes involved in PIMs biosynthesis. Collaboration
with structural biology experts will enable exploration of these interactions at a molecular level,
enhancing understanding of the substrate recognition mechanism. Furthermore, testing synthesized
molecules on pathogens will help identify potential drug candidates by evaluating their efficacy in
inhibiting PIMs biosynthesis.

Methodologically, the project will incorporate contemporary techniques such as parallel synthesis and
medicinal chemistry to expedite and optimize the synthesis process. Additionally, underutilized
photochemical reactions will be investigated to access structurally complex compounds efficiently.
Collaboration with experienced scientists in the field will foster a multidisciplinary approach to
innovation. Furthermore, the research will involve designing a diverse library of novel compounds
tailored for studying PIMs biosynthesis, collaborating with structural biology experts to elucidate
molecular interactions, and evaluating synthesized compounds' efficacy in inhibiting PIMs biosynthesis
through pathogen testing.

The significance of this research project lies in several anticipated outcomes. Firstly, the development
of new synthetic routes and methods will contribute to enhancing organic synthesis technology, enabling
more efficient and scalable synthesis of organic compounds.
Secondly, the synthesis of molecular probes will provide insights into the mechanisms underlying PIMs
biosynthesis, potentially uncovering new targets for drug intervention. Lastly, testing synthesized
compounds on pathogens will facilitate the identification of promising drug candidates with the potential
to combat infectious diseases by disrupting PIMs biosynthesis.

In conclusion, this research proposal presents a comprehensive plan for the development of new organic
synthesis methods and their application in drug research and development. Through collaboration,
innovation, and rigorous experimentation, the project aspires to advance understanding of PIMs
biosynthesis and identify promising drug candidates to address critical healthcare challenges.
