managers and executives, 3rd edition, Philadelphia, 2007, Saunders. Passed by President Obama in
2014, the Affordable Care Act drastically increased the percentage of Americans with access to
healthcare. Because more people had coverage, a higher percentage of the national population sought
access to care in hospitals. Consequently, the on-hand nurses were unable to deal with the increase in

conceptual framework is adapted from Donabedian’s (1966) framework for the evaluation of quality
of care: relating various structures (e.g., hospital characteristics) that impact various processes (e.g.,
actual staffing) and subsequently influence various outcomes (e.g., patient quality, patient
satisfaction, and staff satisfaction). Multiple staffing studies have adapted this framework to
organize the variables of interest (Cho, 2001; Eck, 1999; Edwardson, 2007; Kane et al., 2007a, b;
Mark et al., 2007; Mark et al., 2004). In the proposed framework, structures represent the various
nursing strategies, both internal and external to the organization, which directly influence an
organization’s ability to effectively manage processes for staffing. The processes are a series of
defined stages with outputs that directly affect subsequent stages of staffing. Finally, the outcomes
of staffing management are multidimensional and measured in terms of organizational outcomes
including patient, fiscal, and staff outcomes. The staffing management framework is not intended to
address all possible variables but, instead, is intended to provide a guide for nursing leaders to assess
staffing management in their organizations. The NDNQI® (www.nursingworld.org
/MainMenuCategories/ThePracticeofProfessionalNursing/PatientSafetyQuality.aspx) is the only
national nursing database that provides quarterly and annual reporting of structure, process, and
outcome indicators to evaluate nursing care at the unit level. This large, longitudinal database is built
upon the 1994 American Nurses Association (ANA) Patient Safety and Quality Initiative. This
initiative involved a series of pilot studies across the United States to identify nurse-sensitive
indicators to use in evaluating patient care quality. These nurse-sensitive indicators include both
structures of care and care processes, which in turn influence care outcomes. Nurse-sensitive
indicators are distinct and specific to nursing and different from medical indicators of care quality
(Montalvo, 2009). Travel / Overnight Stay Skillsets: RN, LVN/LPN, C.N.A., Medical Assistants,

/www.myassignmenthelp.co.uk Formula used to calculate BMI in different unit are:- (SI UNIT)
(IMPERIAL UNIT) Usage The scientists have accepted the BMI to be the best tool for calculating
percentage of body fat among the ratios of height and weight. The BMI was also appropriate tool for
population studies and unsuitable method for individual diagnosis. But as soon it became popular
due to its easy way of operation, the people start using for measuring individual diagnosis despite of
its inappropriateness. BMI provides the very easy way to measure simple numeric of a person’s
percentage of fat or thinness in his/her body. This tool provides the method for health professional or
dieticians to look over a person’s health and discuss over health problems like underweight and
overweight with their patients very easily and conceptually.BMI has landed itself into controversy
because many people including health doctors, physicians have started relying on its numerical
authority for their diagnosis. But this is to be observed that it was not the prime purpose of BMI ever.
It was just meant to be used as a simple means of distinguishing physically inactive with an average
body person. Some ranges are already set for individuals who are being used till today also. These
values of BMI are as follows: a BMI of 18.5 to 25 is considered as most favorable weight of an
individual, a BMI lesser than 18.5 indicate that the person is underweight while person’s BMI above
25 indicates that the person is overweight. If a BMI shows the reading below 17.5 it indicates that
the person might be suffering from anorexia nervosa (it is an eating disorder characterized by avoid
eating food and an excess fear of gaining weight).if the BMI measures the reading above 30 it
indicates that the person is suffering from obesity. It is observed that for a given height BMI is
directly proportional to weight. But for the given weight a relation is evaluated which states that
BMI is inversely proportional to the square of the height. Therefore mathematically speaking if all
body dimensions gets doubled and weight reads directly with the cube of the height then BMI will
get doubled instead of remaining same. This relation is seen in taller people whose BMI is high
compared to their body fat percentage. Assignment Help – http://www.myassignmenthelp.co.uk Page

Licensed Practical Nurses • Travel assignments Hospitals, clinics, assisted living facilities, and
rehabilitation centers across the country are always looking for qualified healthcare professionals to
serve their communities. It can be challenging, however, to find the right position for your level of
experience and your pay and benefit requirements. Even then, healthcare facilities opt to fill the

professionalism, our recruiter was very friendly and personable, taking time to get to know each of

Sign-In Sheet. 7676 New Hampshire Ave., Ste. 104 In the healthcare community, there are many
well-known medical staffing franchises with a national presence, but the market share is not as
noticeable as one might think. As of 2015, many of the major medical staffing companies were
private, non-franchised medical staffing agencies. The services non-franchised staffing agencies
provide are better and multifaceted. Rather than exclusively supplying hospitals with nurses, private
medical staffing companies place professionals in several different positions. The problems identified
by Hamilton et al. (2007) are corroborated in other studies. Researchers have associated weekends
and nights with increased mortality in hospitals for more than 25 diagnoses/patient groups. For
example, Becker (2007) found acute myocardial infarction more likely to result in death among
Medicaid patients admitted on weekends and Goldfarb and Rowan (2000) reported mortality after
night discharge from ICU to a general unit to be 2.5 times greater compared with discharge during
the day. Peberdy et al. (2008) found lower survival rates from inpatient cardiology units at nights and
on weekends, even after adjusting for potentially confounding factors. Although the reasons for the
differences in risk in off-peak hours are under investigation, nurse managers must be cognizant of
these differences and staff during off-peak times in a prudent manner to minimize patient risk.
