Topic:
Fast food and youth.

Title: Investigating and understanding the fast-food consumption among

youth and its effects.

Problem Statement: Nowadays, fast food is dominating the eating habits of

youth. This has led to many adverse effects on their physical health, mental
health, behaviour as well as their lifestyle.

Research Questions:
Q1. How does the frequency of fast-food consumption among youth correlate
with their overall health and well-being?
Q2. How does advertising and marketing of fast-food products influence the
food choices and preferences of youth?
Q3. How does consumption of fast-food effects on the lifestyle of youth?

Research Objectives:
 To identify the impacts of fast food consumption on aspects of
one's physical and mental health.
 Examining how change in food habits is having an effect on the
behaviour of the youth.
 To Analyze how fast-food firms marketing and advertising tactics
affect young people's purchasing decisions.
Research Gap:
 Cultural and regional differences
 Long-term health impacts
 Nutritional education and awareness

The impact of fast food on youth can lead to negative health outcomes,
including effects on physical health like obesity and related health issues, due to
its high levels of calories, unhealthy fats, and additives; and mental health like
psychological distress and depression. This may contribute to poor dietary
habits and lifestyle choices among young individuals as well as their behaviour
and buying habits.
Null Hypothesis (Ho)-There is no significant relationship between fast food
consumption and any specific outcome .`=-00
Alternative Hypothesis (H1)- There is a significant positive correlation
between the frequency of fast food consumption and the incidence of unhealthy
dietary habit among youth.

Variable list:
1. Independent variable- Fast Food Consumption
2. Dependent variable- Youth, Academic performance , BMI ,
Obesity , Blood Sugar , Cholesterol.
3. Mediating Variable-Unhealthy Dietary Habits
4. Moderating Variable- Age, Gender, Cultural Factor, Parental
Education

Research Design Plan:

1. Research Type: Mixed-Methods Study: Combining both
quantitative and qualitative methods can provide a comprehensive
understanding of the issue. Quantitative research can help establish
statistical associations, while qualitative research can provide insights
into the mechanisms and experiences of adolescents.
2. Here we can use Cross Sectional Design or Longitudinal Research
Design.
3.
4. Sampling:
Participants: Adolescents aged 14 to 25 from diverse backgrounds.
Sampling Method: Random sampling to ensure a representative sample.

4. Ethical Considerations:
Ensure informed consent from both adolescents and their parents or legal
guardians.
Follow ethical guidelines for conducting research involving minors.
