The program gives licensed manufacturers an opportunity to mark conforming product so that itis easily recognizable and identifiable in the field. The Licensee must implement, maintain and continually improve their quality management system to meet the cil and gas industry's quality management system specification, API Spec Qt. The API Monogram Licenses are only issued after an “on-site” or “on-line” audit has performed and verified that the facility meets the program requirements. Licensees are required to maintain continued improvement management system conformity to API Spec Q1 as well as the product standard and program requirements. In order for a license to remain active, the licensee must go through # renewal audit after each 3 year period. Every 1 year there will be surveillance audit to maintain the continuity of the process. To obtain and retain an AP! Monogram license, an organization must have a documented and functioning quality management system in place that meets both the requirements of API Spec Q1® (Specification for Quality Management System Requirements for Manufacturing Organizations for the Petroleum and Natural Gas Industry), and at least one of the applicable API Product Specifications. ibility Requirements for API Monogram Program The API Monogram Program is designed to identity organizations that have demonstrated the ability to manufacture new equipment that conforms to API product specifications. Even though subcontracting is permitted, API may perform additional audits of any primary subcontractors to ‘ensure their compliance with applicable specifications or requirements, API may refuse initia licensing or suspend current licensing based on a facility's level of manufacturing capability. Prior to applying for an API Monogram License, you must first: ‘+ Have an operational quality management system compliant with API Spec Qi for at least four to six months, ‘+ Have and maintain the technical capability to manufacture products compliant with the applicable ‘API product specification ‘+ Perform a documented internal audit and management review according to the requirements of API Spec Qi ‘= Supplier evaluation as per the purchase “products” and “services” outsourced as per SCM-Supply Chain Management requirements. API Specification Q1 Quality Management System Requirements for Organizations Providing Products forthe Petroleum and Natural Gas Industry 10” Edition (Tenth edition), Publication Date: 18-September 2023 Effective Date: 18-September 2024 Errata 1, Date: 01-October 2023 A key distinction of this 10th edition is its expanded scope to include other types of organizations that provide products for use in the petroleum and natural gas industry. While previous editions of API Q1 limited its application to organizations engaged in manufacturing and related processes, the 10th edition includes organizations providing a variety of services, including manufacturing, engineering and design, physical product realization activities (welding, heat treating, coating, matching, inspection, testing, servicing) and “physicat product-related activities (distribution, logistics and Software development). The new edition reinforces safety and consistency across industry products and operations. ‘Adcitionally, the 10th edition of Q1 now aligns with ISO 9001:2015, Quality Management Systems — Requirements, whereas the Sth edition was tied to the 2008 version of the ISO standard. An update to the accompanying QMS standard, API Spec Q2, Quality Management System Requirements for Service Supply Organizations for the Petroleum and Natural Gas Industries, was published in 2021 [API Monogram Licenses Revision: 01 Date: 27-October, 2023 sunilgavade@reciffmsilcom Page 2 of 7 Notable changes Other notable changes from the 9" to 10" edition include an expansion of the record retention period, the introduction of alternatives to the traditional Quality Manual, modifications surrounding inspections and final acceptance processes, a revised supplier evaluation process and an enhanced focus on risk-based approaches. Collectively, these changes emphasize API's proactive approach to driving continuous improvement and aligning with the industry's evolving needs. Introduction to 10" Edition This specification has been developed to address quality management systems for organizations in the petroleum and natural gas industry. It defines the fundamental quality management system requirements for ‘organizations claiming conformity to this specification, This specification may be applied by organizations that provide product (2.1.17) for use in the petroleum and rratural gas industry. As defined in 3.1.17, this specification uses the term "product" to refer to the “output of an organization intended to be provided to a customer’. Previous editions of this specification limited the application to organizations which manufactured a physical product, performed servicing on a physical product, or performed manufacturing related processes. This edition addresses the following types of ‘organizations in the petroleum and natural gas industry. — manufacturing — engineering/design — physical product realization activity providers such as those performing; — welding —heat treating —coating/plating — machining — inspection —testing — servicing — physical product-related activity providers such as those performing: — distribution — logistics — software development The requirements of this specification are consistent with those of other quality management system documents. The requirements are intended to minimize the likelihood of nonconformity. While this specification may include some API Monogram Licenses Revision: 01 Date: 27-October, 2023 suniloavade@rediffmailcom Page 3 of 7 elements of other management systems (such as those particular to environmental management, ‘occupational health and safety management, financial management, or risk management) it does not include all requirements specific to those systems. This specification may be used either in conjunction with or independent of other industry-specified documents, This specification can be used by internal and external parties, including certification bodies, to assess the organization's ability to meet customer, statutory, and regulatory requirements applicable to the product and the organization’s own requirements This specification promotes the integration of a process approach into the application of specific sections when developing, implementing, and improving the effectiveness of a quality management system. This provides for continuous control over the stated requirements, as well as facilitating the overlap of processes. For an organization to function effectively, it has to determine and manage numerous linked activities. An activity that transforms inputs into outputs can be considered a process. Process activities include determination of needs throughout the organization, provision of resources and product realization, identification of the proper sequence or order in a series of activities, monitoring and measuring the effectiveness of the activities performed, and applying changes or corrections to those activities as needed. Goal of the Specification The goal of this specification is to provide the minimum requirements for the development of a quality management system that promotes reliability and provides for continual improvement, emphasizes prevention of nonconformities, and strives to minimize variation and waste. Itis not the intent of this specification to imply uniformity in the structure of quality management systems or uniformity of documentation. Significant Changes from the Ninth Edition to the Tenth Edition Highlights of some of the significant changes between the ninth and tenth editions include — Alignment with the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 — Change of scope to include companies that provide product related activities — Change definition of “product” to align with expanded scope — Record retention period expanded to ten years — Reference to outdated version of ISO 9000 removed — Added alternatives to traditional Quality Manual — "Design and Development” changed to “Design’ (Engineering) — Clarification on validation of processes — Revised wording around product inspection and final acceptance process — Revised supplier evaluation process API Monogram Licenses Revision:01 Date: 27-October, 2023 sunilgavade@rediffmailcom Page 4 of 7 — Removed preventive action section — Added and revised definitions ERRATA 1 to API Spec, Q1 10th Ed. has been Published on 01-October 2023.
