1. The Celts - Кельти. An ancient Indo-European people who settled in Central and Western
Europe in the Iron Age.

2. Hadrian’s Wall - Мур Гадріана. A defensive forti cation in Roman Britain, built by the Roman
emperor Hadrian to protect the northern boundary of Roman Britain.

3. Boudicca - Будіка. Also known as Boadicea, she was a queen of the British Celtic Iceni tribe
who led an uprising against the occupying forces of the Roman Empire in AD 60 or 61.

4. The Angles, Saxons & Jutes - Англи, сакси та юти. Germanic tribes that migrated to Britain in
the early medieval period and played a signi cant role in the formation of the English nation.

5. The Venerable Bede - Преподобний Беда. An English monk and scholar who lived in the early
medieval period, known for his works on history and theology, including "Ecclesiastical History of
the English People."

6. King Egbert - Король Егберт. A king of Wessex in Anglo-Saxon England who reigned from 802
to 839 and was one of the rst kings to be recognized as overlord of all England.

7. The Vikings - Вікінги. Norse seafarers who raided, traded, explored, and settled in wide areas
of Europe, Asia, and the North Atlantic islands from the late eighth to the early 11th centuries.

8. Danelaw - Датське право. The part of England in which the laws of the Danes held sway and
dominated those of the Anglo-Saxons in the late 9th and early 10th centuries.

9. The Battle of Hastings - Битва при Гастінгсі. A decisive battle fought on 14 October 1066
between the Norman-French army of William, the Duke of Normandy, and the English army led by
King Harold II.

10. The Domesday Book - Книга Домесдей. A survey of England completed in 1086 by order of
King William the Conqueror, providing a comprehensive record of landholdings and resources for
taxation purposes.

11. Magna Carta - Велика хартія вольностей. A charter of liberties agreed to by King John of
England at Runnymede, near Windsor, on 15 June 1215, which limited the power of the monarch.

12. Protestantism -протестантство . A form of Christian faith and practice that originated with the
Protestant Reformation, rejecting the authority of the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church.

13. Reformation - Реформація. A 16th-century movement for the reform of abuses in the Roman
Catholic Church, leading to the establishment of the Protestant churches.

14. The Commonwealth of Nations - Співдружність націй. A political association of 54 member


states, nearly all of which are former territories of the British Empire, that work together on
common goals such as democracy and development.
