English language has become essential for professionals who want to succeed in their careers, as
they will need it to communicate with people around the world.

However, many people still feel discouraged from studying the language because of the
challenges to learn English.

2.1 Some facts about the English language

Although everyone knows that English is the most spoken language on the planet, counting
natives and non-natives, few people know the curiosities about the history of the English
language. For example:

 English is considered a West Germanic language because it has its origins in the junction of
Anglo-Frisian and Old Saxon dialects.
 The language underwent a series of changes over time, until reaching the modern version we
know in Shakespeare's works, for example. When the UK became a power, this was the
version of the language passed on to the colonies.
 Due to the British Empire, English was adopted in North America, India, Africa, Australia
and other regions. Today, more than 40 nations use English as their official language.

2.2 Main Difficulties in Learning the Language

As with other languages, the person who chooses to learn English may encounter some
difficulties at first. Are the main ones below.

7
2.2.1 Lack of time
The busy routine of studies and work leaves little time to dedicate to learning a foreign language.
After all, the student will need not only to attend classes, but also to take time out of their day to
do their homework and study the material learned.

2.2.2 Lack of Immersion

One of the biggest difficulties we have faced as a foreign language student is having an
immersion in the language and culture. After all, it is only in this way that we will be able to
really learn to communicate.

However, although many think that immersion only happens in exchanges, it is also possible to
achieve it with the help of technology, with music, movies and series, in addition to online chats
with natives.

When it comes to teaching English as a foreign language, many people are instantly reminded of
classes at school, during elementary and high school. However, the experience of these students
with the language was often negative, either due to structural problems or the approach used.

This memory tends to make learning more difficult later on, as the student fears that these same
problems will happen again.

You may have heard about the importance of learning a second language, especially English.
After all, with globalization, the English language has become essential for professionals who
want to succeed in their careers, as they will need it to communicate with people around the
world.

However, many people still feel discouraged from studying the language because of the

Immersion is a fundamental part of learning a foreign language. Therefore, try to use it whenever
possible: in the classroom, in the corridors of the course and even in conversations with friends.
If you have other people in your social circle who speak the language, take the time to talk to
them.

English can also be practiced by reading books in the language, as well as watching movies and
series without subtitles. Therefore, there is no shortage of options to keep the practice up to date.

2.3.3 Let's Use Technology in Our Favor

Technology is an excellent way to practice immersion in a foreign language. Through songs,
movies and series, for example, it is possible to see how grammar is used in everyday life and
expand vocabulary, knowing slang and idiomatic expressions.

Using audio chats is also a great way to practice listening and pronunciation, especially if you
can converse with a native speaker of the language.

2.3.4 Let's do Exchange

The exchange is the main way for a student to feel immersed in a foreign language. After all, in
addition to having direct contact with grammar and using conversation at all times, he will also
have the opportunity to learn more about the culture of that people, which also facilitates
language learning and generates personal growth.
