You are on page 1of 10

Warm-up:

At each table there is an answer key to the cougar path and the
concept assessment.
I would like you to go through your tests, and make corrections to
your cougar path and concept assessment. After you make
corrections, check the answer key to confirm your corrections.
The point of this is to get clarification on what we missed and be
able to get answers to our questions immediately about our work.

If you finish your corrections early flip to page 190 and 191 and
work on the pre unit 10 thinking.
Investigation Time!
● We will be investigating linear and quadratic equations.

● With your team work through investigations 1-5. If you

finish 1-5 early try and attempt investigation 6.

● Get your laptops out and use desmos since not all
equations are solved for y.

● This is a review from algebra 1!

Let’s take some notes based on the
investigation.

Let’s take a look at each form and take some notes on key features of
each graph!
Investigation #1
Linear equation: Slope intercept form

o 6

KEY FEATURES: Slope and y-intercept

Investigation #2
Linear equation: Point slope form

KEY FEATURES: Slope and a point on the line

Investigation #3
Quadratic equation: Vertex form

KEY FEATURES:
● Vertex of the parabola is at (h,k)
● If a is positive the parabola opens UP
● If a is negative the parabola opens DOWN

2 4
Investigation #4
Quadratic equation: Factored form

KEY FEATURES:
● p and q are the x-intercepts. (Also called
the roots and zeros.)
7,0 13,0
● If a is positive the parabola opens UP
● If a is negative the parabola opens
DOWN
Investigation #5
Quadratic equation: Standard form

O
KEY FEATURES:
● c is the y-intercept O
● If a is positive the parabola opens
UP
● If a is negative the parabola opens
DOWN
Practice!

With your team, work on Page 192 problem 2, a-e.

If you are done early go back and revisit investigation #6.

If you have done that already flip to page 194 questions 1-3 and write
the key features to the equation above the graph then attempt to graph
it by hand.
Closure!
Complete the top left box on your new learning
target sheet!

Homework: Problem 1 on page 192 and once you fill the table
submit you answers in the schoology assignment!
