Artifacts of Candellon

Written by the High Gnostic Yazdan in the year 946 of the 3rd
age.

The Blade of Ankarra

Ankarra, the patron deity of the Spires, a group of rocky islands famous for their unique rock formations
and the large number of ravens roost there, is a goddess of beauty, death and ravens.

The Blade of Ankarra is a beautiful longsword with a long and thin gleaming steel blade. The handle
features an alabaster carving of the goddess, nude as she is most frequently depicted. Only her long hair is
glazed black. Her angelic wings are made of black steel and compose the crossguard of the blade. They
extend perpendicular from the sword, the ends tipped slightly up. The sword extends back into the early
second age, it is said that Mariadon, the first king of the Spires, was given the blade by Ankarra and told
to sail to the Spires and slay the demon Agarzial who had made his home there. He sailed his ship, the
Molyno, to the island with his crew of a dozen warriors and with their help, used the sacred blade to
destroy the demon. The warriors immediately hailed Mariadon as their king. After this, Ankarra chose
Mariadon as her consort and commanded him to accompany her to her castle in the storm clouds. Before
they left, Ankarra married 12 of her daughters to the 12 Molynauts and Mariadon left the sword to the
Molynauts to use when the need arises.

Even during the time before the Wakou invasion, the sword was not used frequently. Only the oligarchs
of the Raven Spires could bestow the sword upon a citizen. When they did, it was because the nation
desperately needed a leader. This man was able to wield the sword and act as king of the Raven Spires
until he died. When he did, the sword would be returned to the treasury in the acropolis until it is needed
again.

Now that the Wakou lord Kotaro controls the Raven Spires, he holds the Blade of Ankarra as a prized
possession and has used it to attempt to legitimize his rule in the eyes of the natives.

It is said that ravens will follow closely the wielder of this blade. They do not get close and do not interact
with the wielder, they only watch silently with endless patience. Devotees of Ankarra know that to disturb
her sacred animals would be a terrible mistake.

+1 Longsword
Malleus Coryza
Artaxerxes, the White Dragon, one of the 5 faces of our master Azhdahak.

In the Glacial Citadel, in the highest reaches of Mount Calcyr, Artaxerxes IV forged his sacred hammer.
He used a magical gemstone, imbued with winter cold, to form the heart of the hammer. Around this
crystal is a steel head, the shape is rectangular with many geometric incisions and is decorated with
draconic runes and images. The hammer is cold to the touch, frost clings perpetually to the head.

The sagas tell that when Artaxerxes IV used the hammer in battle against the hordes of the Kirith step
during their 1st attempted invasion of Candellon. Accounts tell that when he struck the barbarians with
the hammer, their bodies froze on contact with the hammer and shattered. Icy chunks of blood, gore and
bone flew through the air in his wake. It was said that he sometimes wielded the hammer with one hand,
but due to its weight, even strong mortals can only wield it with two.

It is kept in the Glacial Citadel, in the hand of an 8 foot statue

+2 Maul. Deals an additional 1D6 cold damage. Can be used in one hand by a character with 21
strength or above at the cost of dealing 1D10 bludgeoning damage instead of 2D6. Thrown: (20/40). The
hammer glows in freezing temperatures shedding bright light 5 feet and dim light another 15. Once per
day, it can be hit against a hard surface to extinguish all nonmagical flames and freeze all exposed water
within 30 feet.

The Viridian Grimoire

The first pages of this cursed tome were written by Cambysa II in the year 302. Since then it has been
added to by almost every successive Cambys. The bulk of the text is written in Draconic but many
sections are written in other even more esoteric tongues such as Abyssal, Infernal, Celestial, Umbramic,
Primordial, Sylvan, and some that cannot be identified.

It is bound in what is believed to be the scales of Cambysa II, upon her request as she lay dying. It is a
massive tome that all but the strongest cannot carry without exertion.

Within the pages are descriptions of ancient entities that predate humanity, rituals to summon terrible
extraplanar creatures, creating homunculi and communicating with elder godforms. Many illustrations
decorate the pages with terrible depictions that violate classical conceptions of the nature of time and
space.
Most shockingly, the tome also contains writings that [REDACTED BY ORDER OF THE CHURCH]

Readers of this text with delicate minds lose their sanity almost immediately after beginning to read this
cursed book, haunted by entities that they insist were always around, they just couldn't see them till now.
Even those with iron minds will succumb to madness if they read the text frequently. Soma is
recommended for readers of the tome.

This profane text is kept in the forbidden archives of the library of Cambyses. Only the High Gnostics of
the Library of Cambyses are allowed access and even among them, readers of the tome have been known
to go insane. Many of these lunatics have tried to destroy the book or rip out certain pages. This is why
much of the lore is considered lost. The Library has promised considerable reward for anyone who locates
and returns legitimate portions of this text as well as other documents or artifacts of importance.

The Aurum Gauntlet

This clawed gauntlet is made of red gold, the favorite metal of Darius the 7th. It is said to be totally
invulnerable to heat and at the command of its wearer, it becomes red hot. The wearer is never harmed by
this. Darius the 7th forged it using all of the red gold known to exist in Candellon at the time. He was
known to heat the claws of the gauntlet to extreme degrees and carve into metal and stone walls in
Draconic as our master Azdahak did to create the Mekafeen inscription.

The gauntlet gleams with red light. It is always warm to the touch. It is made of interlocking plates. The
fingers each end with a razor sharp curved claw.

+2 melee weapon. Requires attunment. 1D6 slashing damage. As a bonus action, the wearer can whisper
the command word to the gauntlet, causing it to become superheated. In this state, attacks with the
weapon deal an additional 1D6 fire damage.

Xerxes’ Deliverance

This dagger contains the soul of Xerxa XIV, entombed by her son and murderer Xerxes XV in 478. It
features a dark steel blade that is so thin it appears invisible when turned on its side. Its handle is made of
Onyx and is carved with draconic runes that command the wielder to perform the correct ritual to awaken
the spirit of the blade.

It has been known to drip with terrible poisons after the ritual has been performed, the effect of which can
never be known until it is used on a victim.

The dagger is kept in the library of Cambyses, making it the only of the 5 Vanatarial artifacts to be kept
outside their respective grand temple.
While the ritual is active the dagger seems to have a mind of its own. It is said it seems to draw itself to
vulnerable areas of the creature the wielder is using it against but in rare cases… [This section of the text
appears to have been purposely crossed out]

+1 dagger. (+3 when the ritual is active) 1D4 Piercing damage. Properties: Ritual takes 4 minutes to
perform and will remain active for one hour or until the dagger is used.
