In my area of living there is an issue that has been concerning me for quite a long time.

The farmers here suffer from poverty because the commodities are not selling well.

I live in Halabja which is also a part of the fertile Sharazoor farms. The farmers produce
many kinds of high-quality commodities, and have the capacity to produce lots of them.
Every year many commodities like fruits and vegetables are not selling and wasted
because of a non-organized system for marketing. For example, this year tons of
tomatoes, melons, and many other products were thrown away.

If we find a solution for this issue, the economy of the district will flourish and the life of
the farmers as well as any other person that works in this field will change and develop in
terms of economic, political, and touristy purposes. I have an idea as a resolution for this
issue, and it is by exporting and finding a good market for the commodities overseas.
Since the farmers are able to provide enough commodities for the region, and they can
produce even more, I believe it will be an excellent idea to export the products and give
them the value they deserve. This will not only bring improvements to the farmers but
also makes Kurdish products to be knowledgeable throughout the world.

Since my father is working in both the fields of farming and trading, I know some other
people that will help me to make a team. Also, with my leadership skills that I have
developed, I can carry out my project.

In conclusion, this issue needs to be solved as soon as possible for the farmers not to lose
interest in their jobs. This project will be a beginning for further improvements in
Kurdistan and Iraq’s agriculture.
