FROM CHỊ GIÁO HÀ HƯƠNG WITH LOVE 26
During my final year of high school, I faced a significant amount of peer

pressure surrounding the entrance exam for university. This was a crucial

time for all of us as we prepared to take the exam that would determine our

future academic paths and potentially shape our career prospects.

Many of my classmates were intensely focused on studying for the exam,

often sacrificing leisure time and social activities to dedicate themselves to

their studies. There was a palpable sense of competition among us, as

everyone strived to achieve the highest possible score and secure a place at

a prestigious university.

As the exam date approached, the pressure from peers intensified. There

were constant discussions about study techniques, test preparation

strategies, and which universities were the most desirable to attend.

Comparisons were made regarding mock exam scores and academic

achievements, contributing to a sense of anxiety and self-doubt among some

students, myself included.

Amidst this atmosphere of peer pressure, it was challenging to maintain a

healthy balance between academic pursuits and personal well-being. There

were moments when I felt overwhelmed by the expectations of others and

questioned my own abilities. However, I also found support and

encouragement from friends who understood the challenges we were all

facing and provided reassurance during moments of doubt.

goals and aspirations rather than comparing myself to others. In the end, I

Once upon a time, Chú Cuội was a poor woodcutter who lived
in a small hut by the jungle. One day, while gathering wood,
he found a magical Banyan tree whose leaves could heal, even
revive the dead.

Hoping to get rich, he captured a tiger cub but the mother

tiger chased him up a tree. He saw her use the Banyan leaves
to heal her injured cub. Realizing the tree's power, he took
it home and replanted it. News reached Chú Cuội that the
daughter of a powerful lord was gravely ill. He traveled to
the lord's castle and healed the maiden with the Banyan's
leaves. The grateful lord rewarded Chú Cuội with wealth and
offered his daughter's hand in marriage.

The lord's daughter, Nguyet Tien, loved nature and planted

flowers all around their home. One day, she accidentally cut
a root of the Banyan tree while planting. The tree, in pain,
uprooted itself and began to rise toward the moon. Chú Cuội,
desperate to save his beloved tree, grabbed onto a root but
was pulled into the sky along with it. They landed on the
moon where the Banyan took root. Even today, when people
look at the moon, they say they see the silhouette of Chú
Cuội sadly sitting beneath the Banyan tree, forever
separated from his wife and home on Earth.

of radioactivity and earned her two Nobel Prizes. Here's why I find her so

inspiring

Curie's most significant contributions to science came in the field of

radioactivity. Together with her husband, Pierre Curie, she conducted

groundbreaking research on the properties of radioactive elements. Their

work laid the foundation for the field of nuclear physics and led to the

development of new medical treatments and technologies.

In 1903, Marie Curie became the first woman to be awarded the Nobel Prize

in Physics, along with Pierre Curie and Henri Becquerel, for their joint

research on radioactivity. Just a few years later, she received a second

Nobel Prize, this time in Chemistry, for her discovery of radium and

polonium and her contributions to the understanding of radioactivity.

Marie Curie's achievements are all the more remarkable considering the

challenges she faced as a woman in a male-dominated field. She defied

societal expectations and persevered in her pursuit of knowledge, becoming

a trailblazer for women in science and a symbol of resilience and

determination.

Beyond her scientific accomplishments, Curie's legacy extends to her

humanitarian efforts during World War I. She established mobile

radiography units, known as "Little Curies," to provide X-ray services to

wounded soldiers on the front lines, saving countless lives through early

diagnosis and treatment of injuries.

Marie Curie's life and work serve as an inspiration to scientists and aspiring

researchers around the world. Her passion for discovery, her commitment to

I remember a trip I took with a group of friends to Thailand, where we had

the opportunity to try eating insects. We were exploring the bustling

streets of Bangkok, known for its vibrant street food scene, and stumbled

upon a vendor selling a variety of fried insects as snacks.

At first, we were a bit hesitant and intrigued by the idea of eating insects,

but we decided to embrace the adventure and give it a try. The vendor had a

selection of different insects, including crickets, grasshoppers, silk worms,

and even scorpions, all deep-fried and seasoned with various spices.

After some encouragement from each other and fueled by curiosity, we each

selected a few different types of insects to sample. I remember trying

crispy fried crickets first, which had a nutty flavor and a satisfying crunch

similar to eating potato chips. Surprisingly, they were quite tasty and

addictive once you got past the initial hesitation.

Overall, the experience of trying insects as street food in Thailand was both

exciting and eye-opening. It challenged our preconceptions about food and

expanded our culinary horizons. We found ourselves discussing the taste,

texture, and cultural significance of eating insects as we wandered through

the bustling streets of Bangkok, creating memories that would last a

As a Saigonese girl tired of the relentless heat and humidity, I dream of

discomfort of excessive heat.

Summer would be a far cry from the scorching heat of Saigon, with

temperatures hovering around a comfortable 25°C (77°F). Occasional rainfall

would help maintain the lush green landscapes without overwhelming the days

with gloom.

Autumn would be a breathtaking display of vibrant foliage as the leaves

transition to rich hues of red, orange, and gold. The temperatures would

gradually cool, providing relief from the summer heat while still allowing for

outdoor activities like apple picking or scenic drives through the countryside.

Overall, this temperate climate would offer the perfect balance of seasonal

32. Describe a wild animal

The panda, with its iconic black and white markings, is a beloved symbol of

conservation and biodiversity. Here's why I adore this remarkable creature:

First and foremost, pandas possess an undeniable charm and cuteness that

captures the hearts of people worldwide. Their round faces, fluffy bodies,

and endearing waddle evoke feelings of warmth and affection, making them

one of the most adored animals on the planet.

Beyond their adorable appearance, pandas play a crucial role in their

ecosystem as ecosystem engineers. As primarily bamboo eaters, they help

regulate bamboo forests' growth and spread by consuming large quantities

of bamboo shoots, which promotes new growth and biodiversity within these

habitats.

Pandas are also fascinating from a biological standpoint. They are a unique

species of bear, with specialized adaptations for their herbivorous diet, such

as enlarged wrist bones that act as opposable thumbs to help them grip

bamboo stalks and strip leaves efficiently.

Despite their seemingly gentle nature, pandas are incredibly resilient animals

that have survived for millions of years in the mountainous bamboo forests

of China. They are skilled climbers and can navigate steep terrain with ease,

using their powerful jaws and sharp teeth to defend themselves if

necessary.

An astronomy field that I initially disliked at school but have grown to

appreciate is astrophysics, particularly the study of black holes.

As a student, I found astrophysics to be intimidating due to its complex

mathematical models and theoretical concepts. The idea of delving into the

mysteries of the universe, such as the behavior of black holes, seemed

abstract and far removed from my everyday experiences. Additionally, the

dense mathematical calculations involved in understanding phenomena like

gravitational collapse and event horizons felt daunting and overwhelming.

However, as I've continued my journey of learning and exploration, my

perspective on astrophysics, especially black hole physics, has shifted

significantly.

One aspect that sparked my interest in black holes was realizing their

profound implications for our understanding of fundamental physics and the

nature of space and time. Black holes represent some of the most extreme

environments in the universe, where the gravitational pull is so strong that

not even light can escape. Studying black holes allows scientists to probe the

limits of our current theories of gravity and explore the mysterious

interplay between quantum mechanics and general relativity.

Furthermore, learning about the diverse and fascinating phenomena

associated with black holes, such as accretion disks, jets, and gravitational

waves, has deepened my appreciation for the complexity and richness of the

universe. These cosmic phenomena not only stretch the boundaries of our

scientific knowledge but also inspire awe and wonder at the sheer diversity

and beauty of the cosmos.

Moreover, I've come to appreciate the interdisciplinary nature of

astrophysics, which draws upon insights from physics, mathematics, and

computer science to unravel the mysteries of the universe. By studying black

holes, researchers are not only advancing our understanding of astrophysical

phenomena but also pushing the frontiers of scientific discovery and

innovation.
