1. Do you like history as a subject in your school? Why?
-> have no interest in history
-> theoretical/ boring subject -> learn by heart all dates, times, figures
-> What’s more, doesn’t relate to my major -> so it’s not my cup of tea
2. When was the last time you read a book bout history?
-> it’s been a long time/ read a book/ cram for exams in highschool
3. Have you visited any history museums?

-> War Museum/ see a display of artifacts + remnants in person/ listen to
audio commentaries about past events /gain deeper insights
4. Do you like watching documentaries/movies related to history?

-> do not pique my interests
-> full of dry facts/ time-consuming explanations, so whenever I come across
a video/ skip it or switch the channel
5. What historical event do you find most interesting?

-> Vietnam War, which lasted from 1955 to 1975
-> The war ended with the fall of Saigon, the capital of South Vietnam, to
North Vietnamese forces in 1975, leading to the reunification of Vietnam
under communist rule

-> provide students with insights into the past

1. ARTS
1. Do you like arts?
-> I do like arts, but I won’t go out of my way to enjoy it
-> understanding abstract ideas in arts is quite challenging for me
-> people say such ideas are marvelous or unique >< don’t see any message
behind those
2. Did you take art lessons in your childhood?

-> simple lessons about colors and shapes
-> appreciate the experience of mixing colors and playing around with shapes
-> it is eye-opening to me, seeing how colors can be blended in a creative way

-> I haven’t, but if I have a chance, i will give it a go/ contemplate the awe-
inspiring artworks and masterpieces
5. Is it interesting to become an artist?

-> it’s cool to become an artist, but I have to be realistic here. As I’m not
capable of making arts, such an idea would be too far-fetched for me
6. Are there any paintings on the wall of your home?

-> waste of money which I can’t afford
-> >< spruce up my home with 2-3 pieces of arts -> add a nice and elegant
touch to my space
7. What kind of pictures do you like to put up in your home?

2. COLLECTING
1. Do you collect things?
-> If clothes can count, then yes
-> As I’m a shopaholic, clothes tend to pile up in my wardrobe
-> have the tendency to buy a full set of colors -> that’s how I make my own
collection of clothes

-> pillow
-> has a specific power to lull me into sleep

-> rented house -> don’t have too much space to stock things

-> but, every now and then, I would borrow one from my cousin and wear it to

-> yes, I do

-> i’m not sure about different kinds
-> have a bottle with floral scent

-> I do, all the time >< sticking to them is another story
-> at the start of the week: make a to-do-list for myself -> don’t follow that
set schedule -> end up drowning in deadlines by the end of the week

-> I find myself juggle between tasks -> never fulfill any of them

-> both yes and no
-> yes: a sense of structure + discipline
-> at the same time, a deterrent to my creativity and flexibility

-> short term because they are measurable and practical >< far-fetched long
term goals
-> tend to break down my work into smaller chunks to manage them more
easily
7. What is the biggest plan for you right now?

-> to obtain a high band score for the Ielts
-> realize my goal

6. OUTER SPACE AND STARS
1. Do you learn about outer space and stars at school?
-> I do not have formal lessons, most of my knowledge has been self-taught,
out of curiosity
-> I have watched lots of animated clips about the formation of the universe,
the vastness of the galaxy, which has never ceased to awe me.
2. Do you enjoy watching films about the outer space and stars?
-> Who doesn’t, right?
-> they serve as an endless well of fascination, igniting my curiosity as I
delve into the exploration of other life forms and the mysteries of
extraterrestrial existence
3. Do you want to study about outer space and stars?

-> It fascinates to get a glimpse into astronomy, but pursuing it as a subject
sort of puts me off
-> It think it involves too many theoretical frameworks and complicated
issues, which are practically beyond me
4. Do you want to travel to the outer space in the future?

-> It does sound intriguing at first glance, but if I’m being realistic here, the
notion of living in zero gravity and enduring the potential deterioration of my
bones and skeleton feels far-fetched and somewhat unsettling to me

7. FLOWERS
1. Do you like flowers?
-> who doesn’t, right?
-> I find myself gravitate towards their vibrant colors, intricate shapes, and
delicate petals, making them visually appealing
2. Do you like to receive flowers as gift ?

-> the best gift a woman should receive
-> Whether it's a bouquet of roses, a bunch of lilies, or a mixed
arrangement, flowers have the power to convey a wide range of emotions and
sentiments without the need for words
3. Have you planted any flowers?

-> I’m maintaining a small balcony garden, a tranquil oasis where I plan pots
of daisies
-> Returning home after a stressful day at work, I find it therapeutic to
tend to them and watch as they bloom and fill the air with their delightful
fragrance.

8. CHOCOLATE
- Do you like eating chocolate?
-> if it’s dark chocolate, then yes, because I have a particular fondness for
its rich and lingering bitterness after eating dark chocolate
-> recently, I have formed a habit of indulging in a bar of chocolate before
my gym sessions to get me pumped up for the workout
- Did you give chocolate to someone as a gift?

-> I’m still maintaining the habit of giving my husband a box of hand-made
nama chocolate on the Valentine’s day.
-> I find it sweet and romantic to exchange chocolates as symbols of our
affection for each other
- Did you like chocolate when you were a child?

-> who didn’t, right?
-> as kids, we all had a sweet tooth, and I had a particular fondness or
chocolate or any desserts with chocolate toppings.
-> I overindulged myself that I ended up having tooth a decay when I was 12
- Is chocolate good for our health?

-> If eaten in moderation, chocolate, particularly dark ones, can do wonders
for our health
-> contains antioxidants to slow down the aging process and boost our brain
capacity as well
-> If eaten in excess, it will be counter-productive, causing health problems

9. MEETING NEW PEOPLE
1. How often do you meet new people?( Why/Why not?)
-> due to the nature of my job/ have a chance to get to know different
people every day
-> it fascinates me to interact with them and to see how different people
can bring in different colors and perspectives
2. Do you find it easy to talk to new people? (Why/Why not?)

-> extroverted person/ have no difficulty in approaching people and striking
up a new conversation
-> enjoy engaging with others and enriching my social network

-> have a strong gut feeling/ intuition to know If I’m drawn to a person
-> If I feel an immediate connection or resonance with someone I’'ve just
met, I can talk with them for hours and time seems to fly so fast >< If I feel

-> I used to pay a lot of attention to first impressions, being afraid of what
I’m perceived by others
-> but now I basically don’t care that much because first impressions won’t
last long

10. STREET MARKET
1. What do people usually buy on the street market?
-> loads of stuff, ranging from fresh produce, handcrafted goods, clothing,
accessories and even souvenirs and gifts.
-> not all of them are of high quality, and can even be rip-off, if you don’t
know how to bargain
2. Are there many supermarkets in your country?

-> Yes, Vietnam has a growing number of supermarkets, particularly in urban
areas and larger cities
-> most of them offer convenience, wide selection of products, and modern
shopping experience.
3. Why do so many people prefer street market than supermarket?

-> a whole host of reasons
-> the most standout one might be related to authenticity and familiarity
-> Street markets are often deeply rooted in local culture and tradition.
They provide an authentic shopping experience where shoppers can interact
with vendors and immerse in the local community

11. PEN AND PENCIL
1. Which one do you often use: pen or pencil?
-> I doubt if anyone is still using pens or pencils these days, unless they are
students
-> I only use them for the Ielts test
-> Otherwise, I prefer typing on keyword to
2. When was the last time you bought a pen or pencil?

-> it’s been a long time
-> bought stationery/ submitted a hand-written essay
3. How do you think if someone send you a pen as a gift?

-> weird, not a top-of-mind choice
-> but I would appreciate if someone sent me a pen with my name engraved
on that

12. COMPUTER
1. What do you most often use a computer of a tablet for? (Why/Why
not?)
-> means of education, work and entertainment
2. Can you remember when you first started using a computer or tablet?

-> high-school time
-> did presentation
-> gift from my father
3. Do you sometimes find computers or tablets difficult to use?(

-> not computer literate
-> give me some trouble at first

-> I can’t imagine living without a computer in this digital age

13. WRITING
1. Did you like writing when you were a child? Why/Why not?
-> I never really fancied writing in general, except when it came to
literature. There was something about it that deeply resonated with me.
-> I could lose myself for hours crafting long verses inspired by my favorite
poems. It wasn't so much that I loved writing; rather, I found joy in
expressing myself through the written word, especially when it involved
subjects that I was truly passionate about.
2. What kinds of things do you write during a typical day? Why/Why

not?
-> I have been keeping a diary for years, as I consider it as my trusted
confidante
-> In addition to my diary entries, much of my writing revolves around my
role as a teacher. This includes crafting lesson plans, preparing student
reports, and jotting down personal notes to monitor their progress
3. Do you think the kinds of things you write will change in the future?
Why/Why not?
-> who knows, right?
-> but I guess if i will still be working as a teacher, then it’s pretty much the
same
-> The only potential changes, if any, might stem from advancements in
technology. For instance, the sources of content I draw upon could evolve,
perhaps incorporating more AI-generated or Chat GPT-powered materials
4. Do you prefer typing or writing things by hand? Why?

-> Much of my writing these days has been done with the keyboard, as I find
it much more convenient to save and share files for others

-> But I do still appreciate hand-crafted notes, so I make it a point that I
will send my friends or relatives hand-written cards on special days
14. EVENINGS
1. What do you usually do in the evening? (Why?)
-> I don’t spend my evenings the way should be spent
-> As an English teacher, I mostly work in the evenings, so I guess they are
my most occupied time of the day
2. Do you spend your evenings in the same way on weekdays and at

weekends?(Why/why not?)
-> weekdays are more hectic for me than weekends, because I make it a
point that I’m available on the Sunday evenings to make time for my family.
-> it’s also a time for me to recharge and feel more energized to start a new
week
3. How did you spend your evenings when you were younger?(Why/Why
not?)
-> During my younger years, my evenings were primarily filled with attending
extra classes.
-> Whether it was academic tutoring, music lessons, or sports practice,
these extracurricular activities occupied a significant portion of my time
after school

not?)
-> working is the last thing I expect to do in the evenings, although it’s what
I’m doing now
-> Actually, I prefer to use that time for relaxation, spending time with
loved ones, or pursuing personal interests instead of burying myself in work

1. Do you have anything to share with others recently?
-> As a teacher, I consider my knowledge to be the most valuable asset I can
offer. I find it rewarding to impart the knowledge on my students and play a
part in their English learning journey
2. Did your parents teach you to share when you were a child?
-> among my very first lessons
-> my parents have instilled in me the value of sharing and kindness
-> when I was just a kid, I did have a habit of sharing my toys and food to
others in class
3. What kind of things do you like to share with others?

-> While it can be challenging to specify, I prioritize sharing with those in
need whenever possible, provided it aligns with my capabilities. Whether it's
offering my time, resources, or support, I make a concerted effort to assist
others within my means.
4. What kind of things are not suitable for sharing?

-> there are certain aspects of our lives that are not suitable for sharing,
particularly those that involve privacy, trust, and respect for others. For
example, I believe personal information such as social security numbers,
financial details, and passwords should be kept private to safeguard against
identity theft and fraud
-> I also believe it's important to refrain from sharing gossip, rumors, or
negative information about others

16. WEATHER
1. Do you prefer dry or wet weather?
-> I prefer neither
-> dry conditions: my skin gets dehydrated and cracked, causing discomfort
-> wet weathers: the gloomy atmosphere makes it challenging for me to
uplift my mood
2. What kind of weather do you like most?

-> temperate weather with mild springs, warm summers, cool autumns, and
crisp winters.
-> it’s neither hot or cold, making it very comfortable for outdoor activities
3. What’s your favorite season?

-> spring time is my favorite season
-> pleasant weather makes it enjoyable to spend time outdoors
-> it fascinates me to see the blooming of flowers and the budding of trees,
representing optimism, hope and rejuvenation
4. What kind of weather is typical in your hometown?

-> I’m residing in HCMC, characterized by 2 distinct seasons: dry and wet
season
-> in dry season: it’s sweltering hot, making me tired to death
-> in wet season: I can get as wet as a drowned rat in downpour

17. WILD ANIMALS
1. Do you like to see animals in the zoo?
-> I don’t, although I can’t think of anywhere else where I can see wild
animals in person
-> It hurts me to see animals in captivity and even used for commercial
purposes
2. What is your favorite wild animal?

-> I love pandas through and through.
-> To me, they are the most amiable wild animals with fluffy body and
chubby face.
-> My friends often tease me about the dark circles under my eyes, likening
them to the distinctive markings of pandas. This personal connection makes
my love for these gentle creatures even more profound..
3. Are there many wild animals in VietNam?

-> there is a rich diversity of wild animals due to its varied ecosystems,
including tropical rainforests, mountains, and coastal areas. The country is
home to numerous species such as elephants, tigers, leopards, bears,
monkeys, and various bird species.
4. Do you often watch TV programs on wild animals?

-> Personally, I don't watch TV programs, but I do appreciate the
educational nature of such programs.
-> These programs offer insights into the fascinating lives of animals in their
natural habitats, showcasing their behavior, habitats, and conservation
challenges.

18. PUBLIC TRANSPORT
1. What do you think of public transport?
2. Do you like long distance public transportation?Why?

1. What languages can you speak?
-> my mother tongue, of course. Also, I do have a decent command of
Chinese, since I have passed the HSK3 Exam, but I don’t think I can speak it
really well
2. What languages would you like to learn in the future?

-> pick up French
-> it fascinates me that one day, I could travel to France and take a picture
with the Eiffel Tower, and being able to speak French will allow me to mingle
in the local way of life much easier
3. How do you learn a foreign language?

-> most of my knowledge has been self-taught
-> back in my school time, everything I learnt was just theoretical
frameworks
-> try to brush up on my skills by watching Youtube, movies and reading news
in English on a daily basis
4. How are languages taught and learned in your school?

-> teachers just put an emphasis on the theoretical aspect by teaching us
grammar most of the time
-> we didn’t even know how to pronounce words correctly
-> most of students end up lacking english proficiency and the ability to use
in real-life contexts

20. TAKING PHOTOS
1. Do you take photos by camera or phone?
-> If possible, I still prefer having a digital camera, due to higher quality and
resolution photos
-> Now I’m still okay with my phone, which can come in handy whenever i need
to snap a shot
2. How to deal with pictures after you take them?

-> most of my pictures can be saved and adjusted digitally
-> have no tendency to print them out or to keep them in albums
-> for pictures with sentimental values, I still prefer to have them printed
and framed, and I can hang them on the wall or just put them on my table
3. Do you want to learn the photography to improve your skills of taking

photos?
-> I don’t think such a course is necessary for me unless I am pursuing
photography professionally.
-> with the availability of photo editing applications, even a photograph taken
by an amateur can be transformed into a striking image
-> dedicating time and resources to learning photography may not be a
priority for me at this time
4. How will people in the future take photos?

-> smartphones and other portable devices may feature even more powerful
cameras with enhanced image quality, zoom capabilities, and low-light
performance

5. Is it good to reserve photos in a cellphone?
-> storing photos on a cellphone provides instant access to your images
Cellphones have limited storage capacity compared to other devices such as
computers or external hard drives -> delete older photos to make room for
new ones
-> that’s not to mention security risks such as theft, loss, or hacking

During my final year of high school, I faced a significant amount of peer
pressure surrounding the entrance exam for university. This was a crucial
time for all of us as we prepared to take the exam that would determine our
future academic paths and potentially shape our career prospects.
Many of my classmates were intensely focused on studying for the exam,
often sacrificing leisure time and social activities to dedicate themselves to
their studies. There was a palpable sense of competition among us, as
everyone strived to achieve the highest possible score and secure a place at
a prestigious university.
As the exam date approached, the pressure from peers intensified. There
were constant discussions about study techniques, test preparation
strategies, and which universities were the most desirable to attend.
Comparisons were made regarding mock exam scores and academic
achievements, contributing to a sense of anxiety and self-doubt among some
students, myself included.
Amidst this atmosphere of peer pressure, it was challenging to maintain a
healthy balance between academic pursuits and personal well-being. There
were moments when I felt overwhelmed by the expectations of others and
questioned my own abilities. However, I also found support and
encouragement from friends who understood the challenges we were all
facing and provided reassurance during moments of doubt.

Ultimately, I realized that while the entrance exam was an important
milestone, it did not define my worth or determine my future success. I
learned to prioritize self-care and mental well-being while preparing for the
exam, seeking guidance from teachers and mentors, and focusing on my own
goals and aspirations rather than comparing myself to others. In the end, I
emerged from the experience with a greater sense of resilience and
confidence in my abilities to navigate challenges and pursue my academic and
personal aspirations.

Once upon a time, Chú Cuội was a poor woodcutter who lived
in a small hut by the jungle. One day, while gathering wood,
he found a magical Banyan tree whose leaves could heal, even
revive the dead.
Hoping to get rich, he captured a tiger cub but the mother

tiger chased him up a tree. He saw her use the Banyan leaves
to heal her injured cub. Realizing the tree's power, he took
it home and replanted it. News reached Chú Cuội that the
daughter of a powerful lord was gravely ill. He traveled to
the lord's castle and healed the maiden with the Banyan's
leaves. The grateful lord rewarded Chú Cuội with wealth and
offered his daughter's hand in marriage.
The lord's daughter, Nguyet Tien, loved nature and planted

flowers all around their home. One day, she accidentally cut
a root of the Banyan tree while planting. The tree, in pain,
uprooted itself and began to rise toward the moon. Chú Cuội,
desperate to save his beloved tree, grabbed onto a root but
was pulled into the sky along with it. They landed on the
moon where the Banyan took root. Even today, when people
look at the moon, they say they see the silhouette of Chú
Cuội sadly sitting beneath the Banyan tree, forever
separated from his wife and home on Earth.
