CASE OF GUY PAUL MORIN

FACTS
On October 3rd, 1984, it was reported that a nine-year-old girl named Christine
Jessop disappeared. Almost 3 months later, her body was found 50km (about 31.07
miles) away from her home on December 31st, 1984. It was reported that she was
stabbed, and she was sexually assaulted. Christine Jessop's Neighbour Guy Paul
Morin was framed and wrongfully convicted to Raping nine-year-old Christine
Jessop. On February 22 he was interviewed, he claimed he was innocent and that
there was no evidence, but the police found him weird and thought he was guilty
especially after saying “All little girls are sweet and beautiful but grow up to be
corrupt.” His lawyer tried to argue saying the hair shows no evidence and he could
not have left his work at that time to kidnap, kill her then return to work.
on feb 7th 1986 the jury convicted him not guilty and set him free, but he still
struggled to clear his name

PROCEDURAL HISTORY
On July 30, 1992, Morin was found guilty of first-degree murder. After appealing
his conviction, he was freed on bail on February 9, 1993, while his appeal was
continuing. On January 23, 1995, days before Morin's appeal was scheduled to be
heard, DNA typing conclusively ruled him out as the culprit.

ISSUES
Why did Guy Paul morin do it, did he do it?
Who is the killer?
DECISION
Guy Paul morin spent 10 years being attacked and 18 months (about 1 and a half
years) of his life in jail and the killer is still out. He got 1.25 million in
compensation after 18 months (about 1 and a half years) in prison Aswell as a
personal apology

REASONS
The police used science to wrongfully convicted Guy with DNA testing, Ontario
criminal justice official admits the DNA was contaminated before they brought it
to the trial but the police still used it as evidence, was also wrongfully accused of
sexual assault, she was never sexually assaulted instead it was just the corpse
rotting but the police over exaggerated it to use it against him to convicted him of
something more than just kidnap and killing
