SERIES AND PARALLEL CIRCUIT

Objectives:
To create a simple circuit that represents series circuit.
To utilize the skills for tinkering with the materials given.
To light the bulbs in the circuit.
To experience how it is like to create your own DIY simple
series circuit.

Materials Needed
• 3mm thick chipboard (stack and glue two pcs of it and cut it to
B1 707mmx1000mm area)
• 3 Slots Battery Terminal Case Holder Storage Box For 18650
Rechargeable Batteries 3.7V DIY Connector Series parallel
• 3 pcs 18650 rechargeable battery 3.7V (Bring extra for
reserves)
• 2way Rocker Switch SPST On-Off 2pi
• 3 pcs 2.2V Flashlight Bulb
• 3 pcs E10 Mini Bulb Holder Black Plastic Light Beads Lamp
Bases Student Experiment Lighting DIY Accessories Screw
Type Bulb Socket
• 2meters Stranded Wire 22 AWG 1 Meter Electrical Copper
Cable
• 9mm Heat-resistant Flame-Retardant Tape Adhesive Cloth
Tape for Car Cable Wiring Harness Tape
• Electrical Tape
• Screwdriver
• Wire stripper
*NOTE: If the electrician from the store suggested something
more economical in lighting up the three bulbs, like changing
the battery power capacity, or the wire, etc., then try to ask why
and do accept their suggestions. Or, if you have a family
member that knows what materials are perfect for lighting
three 2.2V flashlight bulbs, and that family member suggested
to use something different and it is cheaper, then you can
follow that suggestion as long as it can perform the series and
parallel set up.

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Provide 2
sets of the materials given. The first set will be intended for
the series circuit. The second set will be intended for the
parallel circuit.
2. Follow the circuit sketches for the Series and Parallel
Circuit.

GUIDELINES FOR FACE-TO-FACE STUDENTS:

1. This Performance task will be done on the dates given:
March 11-15, 2024. The day and time will still be
following your section’s schedule.
2. Wear your school uniform in performing the task.
3. Be with your assigned partner.
4. The chairs in the classroom must be arranged on each side
of the rooms facing at the center.
5. The materials needed must be prepared on the floor so that
when the timer starts, it would be easier for you to go to
your station (the floor spot where you placed your
materials).
6. You and your pair will be lined up at the center side by
side.
7. When the timer starts, you and your pair will be separated.
The other will assemble the Series Circuit. The other will
assemble the Parallel Circuit.
8. If you are done to your assigned circuit and your light bulbs
successfully turn on, tell the instructor so that he/she will
check your output.
9. After the instructor checked your circuit, you will be asked
to disassemble your circuit.
10. You will then swap task with your partner and assemble
the other circuit.
11. You will be put on hold/ you must wait if your partner is
still working on the circuit he/she was tasked to do.
12. If your partner was done doing his/her assigned circuit,
then you can proceed assembling the materials of the other
circuit.
13. If you are done to your assigned circuit and your light
bulbs successfully turn on, tell the instructor so that he/she
will check your output.
14. You can try and practice assembling the circuits at home,
if you already have the materials. But disassemble it after
so that you can use your materials again during the PT Day.
You can also check some YouTube videos for guide and
ideas:

https://youtu.be/koUpfk8B9rM?si=VxKm5hNaD4TEfOjQ
15. The assembling on each circuit must only be done strictly
within 30 minutes or lesser. Exceeding that 30th minute
will give both pair members a deduction of 1 point per 2
minutes extension to their final PT grade.
16. If the performer was able to do the task on time but one of
the bulbs did not light, the final grade of the PT will be
deducted with 10 points.
17. If the performer was able to do the task in a fast manner
that there is still a lot of time left but one of the bulbs did
not light, the performer could still recheck and reassemble
his/her circuit to make amends and corrections. But when
he/she was not able to finish the rechecking on the 30th
minute, a deduction of 1 point per 2 minutes extension will
be given to both pair member.
18. The aesthetics (that includes the placement of bulbs, how
well you coil your wire on the bulb holder, and how neat
your connection) of the final output will also be checked.

GUIDELINES FOR ONLINE STUDENTS:

1. This Performance task must be uploaded on March15, 2024
on Google Drive link:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1mVMnP2K-
TrxAxa4uaRJdCwGgk_heenyC?usp=sharing
2. You can do the two circuits individually.
3. You can opt to pair up with someone also but make sure to
be together in a single video doing two videos overlayed.
The main video will be the table showing your materials
being assembled, the second video (the angle is you and
your partner assembling) must be overlayed on the right
corner of the video. That means, you must be in one place.
I do not accept if you did not meet each other to do the
video.
4. Wear a collared shirt in performing and filming the task.
5. The two circuit must be included in one video. There must
be “no cuts” during the assembling of each circuit. You can
edit a cut transition from one circuit to another if you have
successfully turned on the bulbs of the previous circuit.
6. You can mute the real audio of the video and add
explanation/audio explanation as the background sound of
the video.
7. No time limit. But, make sure to have a time duration that
is easier for you to upload on the GDrive.
