Marry My Husband

The Korean drama “Marry My Husband” (내 남편과 결혼해줘) is an adaptation of a webcomic

of the same name. Directed by Park Won-Gook and written by Shin Yoo-Dam, the drama
unfolds a captivating narrative. It is mainly casted by Park Min-young, Na In-woo, Lee Yikyung
and Song Ha-Yoon. The genres that follow this Korean drama are Romantic comedy, Fantasy,
Revenge, Workplace and Time travel. Was aired on tvN and TVING domestically and streamed
on Amazon Prime Video overseas, concluded on February 20 KST. The webcomic can be read
on Webtoon. On January 16 it was the #2 show on Prime Video.

We are introduced to Kang Ji-won (Park Min-young), she is in the hospital getting treated for
cancer. Her husband Park Min-hwan (Lee Yi-kyung) refuses to care for her or pay her hospital
bills. Her best friend Jung Su-min (Song Ha-yoon) seems to be the only light in her life, or so
she thinks. But it isn’t long before Ji-won discovers that her husband is cheating on her with
her best friend no less. The duo is also hoping for Ji-won’s speedy death. In an altercation that
soon follows, Ji-won dies, only to wake up ten years into the past. A second chance is here for
Ji-won finally, and this time around, she has the opportunity to look out for the warning signs,
stay one step ahead of her boyfriend and best friend, and stop being good for nothing at her
workplace. Ji-won however isn’t alone. There is also brooding office manager Yu Ji-hyuk (Na In-
woo) who seems to be mysteriously invested in her life and proves to be immensely useful
with all the winding planning.

From the first episode, Marry My Husband, wastes no time delving into the thick of the
revenge side of things. It’s a gradual process that allows the audience space to root for Ji-won
as the show progresses, while acknowledging that she can’t possibly handle it all on her own.
Ji-won is able to acclimatize to her new lease of life pretty quickly, makes some new friends,
and begins to handle workplace conflicts a lot better. Yoo Ji-Hyeok, is charming, intelligent,
and physically adept, despite his seemingly flawless exterior, he becomes awkward and
uneasy in the presence of his crush, Kang Ji-Won. Park Min-Hwan, epitomizes a deeply selfish
individual who treats his wife like a slave, embodying an outdated mindset. Jung Soo-Min, a
character with a gentle and kind facade but harbors a twisted, dark side, emerging as a new
villain in the drama.

“Marry My Husband” captivates its audience with a rich blend of exciting revenge plots, sweet
romantic tales, and the various emotional turmoil of life, especially through the complicated
relationships and smooth narrative progression of these distinct characters.

Being a revenge drama makes it entertaining to watch, although halfway through it gets a little
heavy to watch it is worth finishing it. I highly recommend it if you like romance and drama.
“Marry My Husband” left an indelible mark on the global television landscape due to its
thrilling narrative of redemption and revenge.
