Memory pegs:

Exercise 1 :

- Pick a book that is meaningful to you and select a paragraph.


- Highlight the main keywords in that paragraph.
- Turn each keyword into a peg that sounds like it or that looks like or that is somehow
associated.

Exercise 2:

- Link pegs from exercise 1 in a chain.


- Record yourself saying the chain out loud in a funny tone, while saying what each peg stands for
- Without further review, wait for a few hours, then see how much you remember of the chain.
- Now listen to the recording;
- After 24hours, how much do you retain of the paragraph?

Exercise 3:

- Repeat exercise 1; this time with a different paragraph.

Keyword Peg

- Follow the steps of exercise 2; this time linking your pegs in a story.
- Which one worked best for you; the chain or the story?

Exercise 4:

- Repeat exercise 2 with at least three paragraphs.


- Repeat exercise 3 with at least three paragraphs.
- Can you feel your brain warming up?
Exercise 5:

- Pick a room you’re familiar with (for e.g your bedroom)


- Designate 05 or 10 Loci in it ( for e.g. 1.your bed, 2.your mattress, 3.your pillow, 4.your
sheets,5.your blanket, 6.your night shelf, 7.your night lamp, 8. Your ceiling lamp, 9.your
computer table, 10. Your computer)
- Record yourself saying your list of locis while imagining them.

Exercise 6:

- Pick a paragraph from a book that’s meaningful to you.


- Highlight the main keywords and turn them into memory pegs.
- Associate each peg with a loci from exercise 5.
- Record yourself saying outloud the peg the loci and the meaning of the peg (you don’t even
need to listen to your recordings).
- After 24hours check how much you remember of the paragraph, how close is that to 100% ?
