Secondary School Diploma Requirements and Validity form

a.y. 2024/2025
In order to be admitted to a Bachelor program, applicants must be awarded with a valid
secondary school diploma suitable for the access to the 1st cycle of academic studies
(i.e. Bachelor programs) in the country to which the educational system of the school refers.
The secondary school diploma must be awarded after at least 12 years of education
(starting from the first year of primary school) and after at least 2 full years of attendance
of the educational system to which the final diploma refers. Secondary school diplomas
awarded after only 1 year of attendance are NOT valid for enrollment (i.e. Italian students
awarded with a secondary school diploma abroad after attending only their second-last year
of school). In case of admission, all the applicants must fulfil the secondary school diploma
requirements along with the other enrollment conditions stated in their own admission result
by the given deadlines.

Please note that diplomas released in December (i.e. South American diplomas), must be
awarded in the year before the enrollment (i.e. diploma awarded in December 2023 for the
enrollment to a.y. 2024-2025).

Diplomas awarded after only 11 years of studies must be integrated with 1 year of University
with all the exams passed. The year/s of integration must be fulfilled in accredited and
recognized Universities with at least the equivalent of 60 ECTS (credits) per year. Please
note that University years used as integration to fulfil diploma requirements cannot be
considered for credits recognition. Foundation courses are not automatically accepted and
their suitability as diploma integration will be evaluated by the Admissions Committee
according to the documents uploaded in the online application. Any documentation referring
to pre-school years can be included in the online application for further evaluation by
uploading an official school certificate that confirms the year/s of attendance.

In order to collect further information about your secondary school diploma, we kindly ask you
to fill this form by providing the required information about your years of studies, indicating
only ONE type of diploma among the ones listed below and undersigning the conditions.
Please note that the diploma chosen in this form must be the same as the one selected
in the data part of the section “Secondary school information” on My Application.
Students awarded with a double diploma are kindly invited to choose only one of them
for the participation to the selection.

Students awarded with an American high school diploma, issued by an American high school
in the United States or by an American school in another country, must provide at least 3 unibocconi.it
Advanced Placement (AP) courses by July 2024 (please check the list of recognized subjects
on the website). In case the school does not offer any AP course, self-study applicants are
accepted provided that the final AP exams are taken through the College Board. In any case,
all the APs final scores must be released by the College Board and passed with a minimum
grade of 3 out of 5. Please note that all the students with an American high school diploma
must have completed at least two full years in the American study system before the award of
the diploma.

British and Irish Qualifications

Bocconi University accepts applicants with British qualifications (Cambridge, Edexcel, AQA,
OCR, WJEC), including Cambridge International qualifications, as long as they have
passed/will pass at least 3 subjects at Advanced Level (A Level) or Pre-University level (Pre-
U). Please note that A Levels in Critical Thinking and General Studies are NOT accepted by
Bocconi. Applicants with a Pre-U Diploma (3 Principal Subjects + Global Perspective and
Research) are invited to declare the 3 Pre-U Principal Subjects instead of the 3 A Levels.

BTEC are not considered valid to replace the compulsory A Levels/Pre U.

International Baccalaureate (Diploma Programme) unibocconi.it

The International Baccalaureate (IB) is considered valid for enrollment without any translation
and/or legalization. The full IB DP must be awarded by no later than the session of May 2024
(results available at the beginning of July 2024), and after at least 12 years of education. A
minimum final score, and/or specific subjects are not required. Please note that retakes in
November 2024 will not be accepted and IB Certificates are not valid for enrollment.

Other National or International Diploma

National diplomas’ requirements:

- Please note that if your national system of education requires a qualifying academic exam
for University admission (i.e. Gaokao, Matura, Selectividad, ENES, ENEM/Vestibular,
Veveosi Prosvasis, YKS, ICFES, ATAR, Passerella exam, etc...), you must pass this exam
in order to enroll in Italian Universities (a minimum grade is not required). In addition, these
exams are usually requested by the Italian Authorities (Embassy/Consulate/Italian Cultural
Institute) in order to issue declarations of value and/or visas for study purposes.
- A valid Declaration of Value (DoV) of the secondary school diploma is also compulsory for
some diplomas: if required you will find this condition in the admission result. Please check
the website for further details about the DoV.Please note that a Statement of Comparability
issued by CIMEA (the Italian NARIC Center) is considered as a valid alternative to the
declaration of value.
