Abstract: Hydropower plants are crucial to society. Maintenance becomes vital for the prevention of
unforeseen stoppages and a complete breakdown of the machine in a hydropower plant. The unforeseen
failure of a component in a hydro turbine or generator can have a significant impact on the hydro turbine
economy; the right approach is to employ condition monitoring techniques at every critical location of a
hydro turbine. Condition monitoring is a suitable method to prevent unplanned outages as a proactive
maintenance strategy. Maintenance becomes vital for the prevention of unforeseen stoppages and complete
breakdown of the machine in industrial facilities, their timely diagnosis and corrective measures cannot be
over seated. The prevention of catastrophic failures through early detection of incipient faults in the machine
increased the operational life with fewer failures and complete breakdowns.
