column in the table.
TRUE FALSE
Most film stars become famous because they work hard and are talented, but some stars are luckier
than others!
Charlize Theron is a star of many Hollywood films like The Italian Job. Her career started in a bank!
She was born in South Africa. She was only 16 when she moved to Europe as she wanted to work as
a model and dancer. A year later, she flew to America. At the age of 18 she moved to Hollywood in
Los Angeles when she tried to get a job in acting.
She had almost no money left. She went to a bank with her last salary cheque*. The worker in the
bank didn’t want to give her the money because the cheque was from a different part of America.
Charlize got very angry with him as she needed the money to pay for her room. Then a gentleman
came over and tried to help. She had to fill in lots of documents, but she got her money.
The man who helped her was John Crosby. He was a talent agent, and he worked with many actors.
He offered to work for Theron. He organised acting classes for her and after a few months, she made
her first Hollywood film.
