In lectures you learnt the SAICA Code of Professional Conduct, therefore you have been
asked to comment on the following.
Jack Skhosana is the manager of the audit team at a major audit client Horizon Ltd. Agnes
Skhosana, Jack’s wife owns a catering company Aggie CC. Horizon Ltd spends a significant
amount of money on employee related entertainment and for that reason they decided to put
its catering contract out for tender. Whilst reviewing the minutes of the directors meeting, Jack
Skhosana came across the amount which the directors regarded as a reasonable tender price.
Jack then approached he’s wife and suggested she applies for the tender. Agnes was
instructed by her husband not to reveal that she is married to him. She knew to tender just
below the expected amount and Jack agreed to get as much information as possible from the
Horizon Ltd procurement department. He subsequently asked an audit trainee to
comprehensively analyse Horizon Ltd’ catering expenditure, even though this was not
necessary for the audit purpose.
