Course Tips

1. As you watch lectures, be active by taking notes as the lecture plays. Use the downloadable
“DIY (do it yourself)” notes. Pause the videos and take breaks if you start mentally wandering
somewhere else. Come back after a short break to finish a lesson.

2. After watching/taking notes, look over the notes from start to finish.

3. If a lesson has “check your progress” assignments, use them as reinforcement (just like a
teacher would have you do them in the classroom) See how much you can do without your
notes. If there is a lot of knowledge missing, use your notes. You can always re-watch that
portion of the video to find the answers.

4. When a section/unit is done, do the “assess your knowledge” assignment. Try it without any
help first (you can use a periodic table and calculator though).

Next, open the answer document and check your work. Self-assess. How many did you get
right? Wrong? Should you revisit a topic? Are you happy with moving forward? If so, go for it!
