Narrative Report for Para sa Kiyaw 2021 Education Campaign + Music and Arts Festival

The event Para sa Kiyaw was held last April 23, 2021 via live on their Facebook page, ORIS Project and
officially started at exactly 7 in the evening. Para sa Kiyaw was a movement for the conservation of
the Isabela Oriole also known as Kiyaw which is a critically endangered species of the Oriole family
found on Luzon, the Philippines and its habitat. The month-long campaign includes activities like
postcard gallery, raffle, bingo challenge, kiyaw hand bag making, online benefit concert and more. The
online benefit concert was open to the public with free of charge. The Youth Formation Division
(YFD), the Supreme Pupil Government (SPG), the Supreme Student Government (SSG), the Youth for
Environment Schools Organization (YES-O) and their teacher advisers was advised to participate in the
aforementioned event in support to the Department of Education’s (DepEd) core value
Makakalikasan.

The online concert started with the explanation of the host about the event and its purpose, and
accounts where people can donate to support the cause. Then followed by the performance of the
first performer, Mark Macaspac, with four songs, three covers and one unreleased song. Next,
another singer which was Peachy also known as Silent Stereo which also sang four song, three covers
and one unreleased song. Thereafter, a welcome message was delivered from the OIC of Wildlife
Resources Division, Atty. Theresa M. Tenazas. Her message was informative and meaningful, she
explained the role of the birds in the ecosystem and the ecosystem services that forests provide to
us. She has also mentioned that Isabela Oriole or also known as Kiyaw is endemic to the Philippines
meaning it can only be found here. The third performance was from Do Kaquilss which has
showcased the beauty of the bodies of water here in our country in his music video. The Fourth
performance was from Buch Dacanay from the band Lilim, he performed 2 original songs and 2
covers. Lastly, for the last performance given by Jearvel Ann, one of the song performed was her song
“Pretty”. On her last two songs she was accompanied by her boyfriend. The live ended shortly after
that at exactly 9:12 in the evening, it lasted for 2 hours and 12 minutes.
