Dear Future self,

Your life will never be worse but also never better. It's as if you were on an
endless roller-coaster that went up and down. You will find yourself yearning to
be better, but it turns out that it only leads you to be worse. You will inevitably
lose people who mean the most to you, and you'll find yourself lost in an
endless pit of frustration. You will stay up all night, self-loathing and
fantasizing about revenge. In short, it's a challenging time. But you have to see
things as formative stepping stones that will lead you to the top.
Throughout your journey, you'll learn lessons, sometimes you learn them the
hard way, and sometimes you learn them too late. One day, you'll see things
differently. You will be your own home, a woman who you forged through the
years. You will be the person you want to be, not the person who everyone
wants you to be. One day, you'll hold your head up high and whisper to
yourself, "I've finally attained my collegiate accolade." while looking at the most
important people who have added and enriched your life. You will thank them
for staying back and watching you shine like gold, for all the times they saw
you in ways you didn't see yourself. You will be proud of your incapability to be
anything but open to the world. Future self, you will picture yourself teaching
in a four-cornered room with students who aspire to be just as successful as
you. You will be serving this country with courage, faith, love, and passion.
You'll stop bleeding from the tip of your pen and find your own healing. You
will find love that is not perfect but real. You will experience the feeling of how
your blood rushes into your cheeks when the man of your dreams says, "I want
to teach you what forever feels like." It will be vivid scarlet. You will stop letting
people decide who you are going to be. People are going to judge you anyway,
so you might as well do whatever you want. You'll emerge as a woman of
dauntless courage, undeterred by the uncertainty of endeavor and unwavering
in your pursuits. You will decide what's yours to hold and let the rest of the
weight go. You'll be out in the world, changing others the way it changed you.
So, long story short, it's the Great War.
Long story short, I will survive.

Yours Truly,

Your future self
