EXPERIMENT NO. 5 Aim:- To determine the kineties of the reaction bet tween ethyl acetate and sodium hydroxid: at room temperature by the differential method of analysis. es Apparatus: - Beaker Stop watch Conical Flask Pipette Burette Chemicals: - Ethyl acetate (0.2 M) NaOH (0.2 M) Std. HCI (0.1 N) Theory:- ‘The differential method of analysis deals directly with the differential rate equation to be tested, evaluating all terms in the equation including the derivative dCy/di, and testing the goodness of fit of the equation with experiment. Procedure: 1. Take 150 ml of ethyl acetate in a beaker, which serves as the batch reactor 2. To this add 150 ml of NaOH solution and the contents are kept well stirred. 3. Soon after adding NaOH a stopwatch is started. 4 Invall samples each of 10 ml volume are taken from the renetant contents as per the following time schedule.
