UG ADMISSION ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA, 2021-22

• A candidate who passed the Higher Secondary or its equivalent Examination (10+2
level) in or after 2016 is eligible to apply for admission to the undergraduate courses.
• A candidate must have passed in English (full marks not being less than 100) in the
previous qualifying examination to apply for B.A / B.Sc./B.Com (Honours) Courses.
• Admission will be conducted strictly on the basis of merit. The subject wise merit lists
will be prepared based on corresponding INDEX MARK for all categories of students.
• SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B candidates only from West Bengal are eligible for reservation
benefits.
• Admission to any course of the college is provisional and is subject to the final
approval of the University of Calcutta.
• Anti-ragging declaration as mandated by the UGC is to be furnished by every student
after admission.
• There is no hostel facility in the college.
• Merit Lists for all subjects, Admission Schedule and all Admission Notices will be
published on college website http://mmccollege.co.in. No separate communication
regarding admission will be made to the candidates individually.
Admission to Semester-based Three Years B.A./B.Sc. /B.Com. Honours and General Degree
Courses of Studies in Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) under the University of Calcutta will
be guided by Admission and Examination Regulations (Notification No. CSR/3/18 dated
07.05.2018 and CSR/26/17, dt 26.05.2017) of the University of Calcutta.

Applicability of the regulation:


These regulation shall be applicable to:

a. the students who are taking admission to the B.A / B.Sc /B.Com.(Honours/ General)
Coursefrom the academic session 2021-22.

b. the students who were admitted in earlier sessions but did not enroll for B.A / B.Sc /
B.Com. (Honours/ General) part 1 Examinations up to 2019.

c. the students who were admitted in earlier sessions and enrolled for B.A / B.Sc /B.Com.
(Honours /General) part 1 Examinations but did not appear in part 1 Examination up to
2019.

d. the students who were admitted in earlier sessions and appeared in B.A / B.Sc / B.Com.
(Honours/General) part 1 Examinations in 2019 or earlier shall continue to be guided by the
existing Regulations of Annual System.

For the purpose of determining eligibility for admission to the B.A./B.Sc./B.Com/B.Mus.


(Honours/General)Courses, aggregate marks shall be calculated by adding the marks in top-four
subjects in order of marks secured by a candidate. Marks in compulsory Environmental
Education/Studies shall not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks. However, if
the subject “Environmental Science” is studied as an elective subject of 100 marks, it may be
taken into account for the purpose of determining the aggregate marks.

Eligibility criteria of application for admission in B.A/ B.Sc Honours subjects:

1. A minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate (of best 4 subjects excluding compulsory
Environmental Education or Studies) and 45% marks in the subject or related subject in the
pre qualifying examinations
OR
2. 50% marks in the aggregate when the candidate has not studied the subject in his/her
previous qualifying examination provided all other clauses are satisfied.
OR
3. 55% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination

Eligibility criteria of application for admission in B. Com Honours subjects:

A candidate taking up B.Com. Honours Course in a subject must have obtained


1. A minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate and 45% marks in the subject or related subject at
the previous qualifying examination.
OR
2. 55% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination.
Marks Criteria for S.C./S.T. candidates as per C.U. Rules
1. 40% in the aggregate or subject or related subjects at the previous qualifying
examination, for all honours courses.
2. Passed in10+2 or equivalent examination for all general courses.

Reservation Policy for admission in three year (six semesters) degree courses of studies shall be
guided by the West Bengal State Higher Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission),
Act, 2013 and the West Bengal State Higher Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission)
Rules, 2014.

Details of Eligibility for Admission in Honors subjects given below in the Table

Eligibility criteria of application for admission in General Degree Courses:- B.A, B.Sc, B.Com.

Stream Criteria
Pure Sc. Passed in (10+2) level
Bio Sc. Passed in (10+2) level (must have passed in chemistry and Botany or Zoology)
B.Com Passed in (10+2) level

B.A. Passed in (10+2) level

AND
A candidate shall be allowed to take up the subject(s) (as Honours or General)
under heading “A” if he/she had passed the subject(s) under heading “B” at the
previous qualifying examination.
Special conditions for admission to the following Honours Courses

1. Economics : A Candidate shall be allowed to take up Honours in Economics if he/she has passed
in Mathematics at the H.S. Examination (10+2) conducted by the West Bengal Council of H.S.
Education or its equivalent examination in Mathematics/ Business Mathematics. Students who have
passed Business Economics including Business Mathematics in H.S. (10+2) level from West Bengal
Council of H.S. Education are also eligible for admission in the Honours Course in Economics.
Candidates of Economics Honours have to take up Mathematics as one of the elective subjects.

2. Mathematics : A candidate shall be allowed to take up Honours in Mathematics if he/she has


passed in Mathematics at the previous qualifying examination. A candidate who has passed in
Business Mathematics is not eligible for admission to the Mathematics Honours Course.

3. Chemistry : A candidate shall be allowed to take up Honours in Chemistry if he/she has


passed in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at the previous qualifying examination.

4. Computer Science : The combination of subjects for Computer Science Hons. Course shall be
Mathematics as one of the General subjects and any one of the following subjects: either Physics or
Statistics or Electronics.

5. Philosophy : If the candidate has not studied Philosophy as a subject in the previous qualifying
examination then Psychology/ Math/ Education/ Sociology/ Political Science be treated as related
subjects.

*** Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) Vocational examination conducted
by the West Bengal State Council of Vocational Education and Training shall be eligible to seek
admission to the B.A. (General) 1st year Course of Studies taking the subjects under Humanities
Division only. However, candidates who have passed the aforesaid H.S. Examination in Business &
Commerce shall also be eligible for admission to the B.Com.(General) 1st year Course of Studies
under this University.
