My name is David Rose. ľd like
to tell you a little about myself.
I was bom and raised in Kansas
City. I was the ninth child of ten
brothers and sisters. My family had
a very high intelligence, the low-
est I.Q. was 137. So I followed in
my brothers’ and sisters’ footsteps
seeking knowledge. My family
wasn’t a Christian one though from
time to time Ild hear them men-
tion God.
For some reason I always felt that
my family resented me so I ended
up hating my family. As soon
I graduated from high school,
starte] getting into trouble. I
headed for Newport Beach. A col-
lege there tumed me down be-
cause they found out that I was
out of state and that I was only
16. So I kicked off across the
country and wound up back in San
Francisco. That summer, drugs had
interested me and I had begun to
takø them, hating every one around
me more each time I used them.
But mostly, I hated myself. Back
home once again, in Kansas City,
I became a seller, mostly to the
high schoolers. The money was
good — so good that a good friend
tumed me into the FBI. He had
arranged for me to sell some grass
But I saw what it was really like
there and I walked off the scene.
Sitting along the beaches at New-
port once again wondering what
to do,a guy approached and started
talking about Jesus. Just what I
need, I thought sarcastically, one
of those “survey guys.” Well, we
talked for a while and he invited
me to this resort in the San Ber-
nardino hills. I wanted to go but
my friend wanted to get some
kilos. Well, we set out on our way
and the next thing I knew we were
passing the Christian resort. I
thought about going in but some-
