Final Project Guidelines

● Students will work in groups of 3.

● Students will conduct some research about one (or more) of the course
contents and its connection with their field of study.
● This final project will consist of an outline (the project progress), an oral
presentation, and a brochure.

Oral Presentation of the Outline

Topics must be approved in advance by the professor.

● Every group should make an oral presentation of the project progress. This
should be the theme and reasons why that theme was chosen, background
information, and the presentation of the main ideas in the form of an outline
(the format of the outline is displayed below)
● A cover page is not needed. Use a heading instead.
● Complete sentences are required.
● In the introduction, be sure to include the purpose of the
research/presentation.
● The body of the presentation should be enlarged by including details,
examples, quotes, and others.
● The outline should include at least 3 topics besides the introduction and the
conclusion.
● No images or drawings are expected. Do not use colors other than black.
● Write your references on a separate page.
● Remember to summarize the main points of the presentation in the
conclusion section.
● Try to use the vocabulary and grammatical structures studied in class.
● All students in the group should participate in the presentation of the outline.

Oral Presentation
● The oral presentations will be held on the two classes of week 12. However,
everybody should be ready on the first class (either Tuesday or Friday,
according to your registered schedule). That day, each group will pick a
random number up to determine the order of the presentations.
● All students are expected to participate during the projects either by
presenting them or by asking questions as part of the audience.
● Your presentation must last at least 10 minutes (15 minutes max.), including
some time for questions from the audience.
● As part of the oral presentation, a stand with meaningful visual aids should
be prepared. You are encouraged to use recycled material for this purpose.
Also, you may use digital resources. Students are responsible for
providing/booking the needed resources and having a plan B in case
technology does not work.
● Cite your sources/references academically and professionally.

Brochure
Once that the topic and outline are approved, it’s time to start working on the
brochure. Its main goal is to show the key points of the presentation.

● The brochure should include all significant information from the research
and the oral presentation.
● The design must be attractive and coherent.
● The writing of the brochure should include all the grammatical structures
and vocabulary studied in class.
● Provide a clear and neat layout.
● All group members must participate equally.
● Include your names and the course name. No front page needed. Use a
small heading.
● Be creative. Include images, text, and other appropriate resources.
● Each group must turn in the pamphlets immediately after its presentation.
● Also students should send a digital version of the pamphlet to their
professor so that she or he shares it with the rest of the class.
● Provide the references (a list of all the consulted sources of information).

NOTES:
❖ Do not start the presentation or outline with phrases such as: This
presentation is about… We are going to be talking about… or alike.
❖ This is group-work, so work as a group. Even when dividing the tasks may
be advisable, everybody is responsible for the assignment as a whole.
Every member of the group should be ready to answer questions of the
entire presentation.
❖ Every student must attend the presentations of his/her classmates.
