The current invention is a cosmetic formulation including jade powder for blocking blue light
in the visible range. The blue light-blocking composition including jade powder as an active
component is capable of selectively reflecting and thereby blocking light in the blue light
spectrum, which has previously proven difficult to block, thus preserving the skin.
For a product to get the Patent approval under the section 2 of the Patents Act, 1970
following conditions need to be fulfilled:-
1. It should be Novel
2. It must have Inventive Step and have Non-Obviousness
3. It must have Industrial Application
According to Section 2 (1)(l) of Patents Act, 1970, the aforementioned product comply with
this section which talks about novelty, as there are many botanical ingredients for blue light
protection such as butterfly ginger plant, rice, cocoa seed, carrot root and seeds, and marigold
but the present inventors found that jade powder has an effect of blocking blue light and the
cosmetic composition contains jade powder as an active ingredient blocking blue light, which
can be useful in specifically reflecting light in the blue light spectrum which leads to blocking
the light, thereby protecting the skin therefrom.
According to Section 2 (ja) of Patents Act, 1970, the product also comply with this section
which talks about inventive step and any person skilled in this field would not come up with
the same as jade is considered as a healing gem for detoxifying and healing stressed organs,
for strengthening the body’s natural defenses, and for boosting healing powers but would not
use it as blocking blue light.
According to Section 2 (ac) of Patents Act, 1970, the product comply with this section
which talks about industrial application since the adverse effects of UVB and UVA radiation
on human skin are well documented. Now the adverse effects of blue light on the skin have
also been investigated, and blue light has been proven to encourage free radical formation in
skin cells and to upset sleep patterns. Thus the present product can be useful in specifically
reflecting light in the blue light spectrum, thereby protecting the skin and increasing the
industrial applicability.

The present invention features methods, devices, and kits for detecting a level of one or more
biomarkers in a patient having cancer or determining the responsiveness of a patient having
cancer to a treatment, such as treatment with a secretory phospholipase A2 (sPLA2)
hydrolysable, cisplatin-containing liposome. The invention further includes methods of
treating a patient having cancer by administering, e.g., the liposome.
