Mixing MTL and GE branded 8000 series

IO and Controllers
MTL branded hardware that was sold by MTL prior to GE acquisition is supported and can be mixed with
new modules manufactured by GE. There are not any hardware compatibility issues between hardware
versions, however certain firmware revisions are necessary to install when mixing older and newer
hardware.

In general, the latest firmware is backwards compatible and can be installed on older hardware, but
older revisions of firmware prior to the release of some hardware versions is incompatible with newer
hardware revisions.

The following table can be used to help identify compatible hardware and firmware versions. For
standard 8521-XX-XX controllers, GEF09\GE09 hardware revision identifies the need for newer
firmware. In order to use new hardware with old hardware in a duplex system, the old hardware will
first need to be updated to a version of firmware compatible with the new hardware. Firmware versions
are available for download from the support website at support.ge-ip.com

The same applies for 8851-XX-XX controllers with hardware revision GEF06\GE06 or higher.
